    Pros

Great culture. Independent contributors will be acknowledged.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations given lack of resources.

    Advice to Management

Pick the path and stay with it. Be ruthless if you have to be, better that some get cut then have the company fail.

    Pros

Senior management is solid with the ability to adapt to the marketplace. It remains to be seen how well the company does with latest strategies

    Cons

Lower and middle management are often not clear on direction. They often micro manage and it seems they make changes just for the sake of change to look like they're doing something.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time learning your people and what motivates them and use that to build stronger teams instead of saying "we need to do better at X".

I have been working at Rackspace (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly, helpful, and very smart people, casual work environment, generous vacation hours, free sodas, abundance of on the job training, career growth.

    Cons

Some projects, from leadership come in with unrealistic timelines, leading to periods of long hours and high stress.

The 401k match is the lowest of any company the I've ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

If you bring the 401k match up to a level that matches other industries, you would have one of the best benefit packages available on the market place.

Bring projects to employees early in the process to get a feel for how long it will realistically take, before arbitrarily assigning very aggressive timeline that cause for tense periods of time.

I have been working at Rackspace (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, top executives are open to listen and share and the racker culture is awesome

    Cons

Has had many changes in the past for what I've heard and experience and it's important to have continuity in programs, people, leaders and so on

    Advice to Management

Continue on the execution of the strategy at all levels of the organization

    Pros

Things depends on your team and manager but overall is a good company. Many great and talent people. Good PTO time and quarterly bonus used to be better but is a good plus.

    Cons

Health benefits are good but could be better compare to industry. Hard to get merits and promotions. Usually promotions are based on being friends with. Bonus % used to be better.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the rackers. Stop saying there is a hiring freeze but still hiring people in all areas and many managers except where is really needed in SUPPORT staff. Get back to the roots of what made this company great.

    Pros

Fairly stable company in the here and now. Benefits are pretty good. Nice to see a company doing well outside of the big tech hubs. Plenty of opportunity to lead here.

    Cons

Upper management unwilling to take significant risks or set direction without backpedaling. Mired in process and a strange level of adherence to OpenStack, even to their own demise.

    Advice to Management

Toss the thought leaders in management, listen to the engineers.

I have been working at Rackspace full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good work load balance. Actually it's too good, u may feel like you are doing nothing but steal your colleges bonus.

    Cons

Still focus on Iaas(infrastructure as a service) not the next level(software as a service) maybe because Rackspace is a hosting not a tech company.

    Advice to Management

At least they treat me pretty well now.

    Cons

    Too bureaucratic
Too hard to get your voice heard
On other hand, a lot of waste pursuing too many contradicting directions and various pet projects
    Lack of focus
    Too many managers

    Advice to Management

Focus and cut the waste, nothing else needs to be done
