I have been working at Radian Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are reasons why Radian was voted as one of the top companies to work for in Philadelphia. Excellent CEO with strong forward-looking vision. Finance team is getting better and better. Mortgage Insurance continues to perform well. Smart people working on the Risk team. Vast majority of the HR people are genuine and care about the employees. Cons

Philadelphia office can be a little bit laid back and slow to action. Certain areas in the organization are slow to make decisions. Company overall is doing too many things at the same time. Lots of catch up to do on the Clayton side of the businesses. Lots of technology debts remains. Lots of old, outdated processes in the company remain unchallenged.

    Pros

Great people. Clear strategy. Strong leadership. Modern work environment. Solid tacticians. Days fly by. Dial is always near 11. Lots of action and positive energy.

    Cons

There is always room for improvement in people, process, tools, and technology.

    Advice to Management

Keep attracting great talent. Keep listening to the folks on the floor. Keep influencing the best outcomes through actions, words, and deeds.

    Pros

Great people, great benefits. With a smaller size company, you are given the opportunity to do and try new things as everyone helps out.

    Cons

A lot of senior management change recently.

I worked at Radian Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Company rewards initiative and has a good policy in place for training. Good 401k plan match. Great people! Couldn't ask for better coworkers; friendly and willing to offer help when needed. I actually liked my job and enjoyed going into the office.

    Cons

Has developed a track record of "cleaning house" annually. Some departments seem to be targeted for downsizing on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Instead of choosing the same people to take on additional job duties and special assignments, offer the chance to anyone who exhibits willingness and welcomes the opportunity. Not only does doing the former leave important resources untapped, it is unfair to repeatedly give certain people the chance to demonstrate their abilities while ignoring the potential of others.

I have been working at Radian Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Tons of PTO, especially after 5 years. Great bonus plan. Great tuition assistance -- 100 percent. Great stock options and salary. Good Medical and Dental plan. Always doing nice things to employees, like "dog days of summer free lunch" with free raffles and very nice prizes....50 to 200 dollar gift certificates. Random rewards to the employees are common. Work from home programs, superior 401k (100 percent match...

    Cons

Can't think of a single 1. As someone mentioned in an earlier review, commute to the city can be challenging at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. You are doing great and we are proud of you. Especially proud of Radian's focus on diversity and also commitment to the city of Philadelphia.

The people are great and it really does feel like a family unit for the most part. This appears to be a company where they encourage professional growth. Management is very understanding to work-life balance.

    Cons

I do not have anything negative to say about the company. I am very happy that I was given the oppurtunity to hone my skills here and to grow.
