I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I really enjoy the people I work with.

    Cons

The company itself is failing hard, and micro manage everything.
There is no reason to do well, besides the constant threats of getting wrote up or fired for not meeting silly goals.
Very few items to actually sell worth anything. Which leaves extra pay very low besides your base pay.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with the people in the actual stores what your plans are for the company and why we do things we do. Because at this point it all feels like grasping for straws.

    Pros

Working with a respective team who are well aware of innovative technology.
For the most, learning about technology is really beneficiary, and teaching customer or other individuals of the product is rewarding.
Management are underrated, but the company did have a lot of growth.

    Cons

    Pay
The simple fact that commission rate decreased during a two year span.

    Advice to Management

Pay workers for what they deserve, and not take advantage of them.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Got to see the new things as they came out.
Good employee discount and concession promotions and discounts for the contract carriers.

    Cons

Long hours for store manager (60-80) a week. Non-exempt managers over time pay is horrible. Over load on tasks and impossible deadlines. 6 day work weeks year round. Life revolves around being at the store. Required to work all weekends and all holidays.

    Advice to Management

Work with store managers to get realistic dead lines and be clear on what is wanted and not leave us in the dark 99% of the time. And have it so managers have a reason and want to work more than 48 hours a week with better salaries and for non-exempt managers better overtime pay.

I have been working at RadioShack part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great place to learn to be a cashier, sell contract and prepaid phones, get sales experience, and learn about some tech stuff I would have never learned otherwise.

    Cons

The pay is not worth the sacrifice. I have had to handle an entire in mall store by myself more than a few times, and have had to handle a few manager duties. I don't get paid for all the extra things I do. Many customers come in and and have to wait because there are very few of us at the store during big rush hours and we have to handle them all. Just last night I handle three customers at once. Once Contract phone, One return, and running a line for people buying simple products. The worst part is our three immediate management higher ups all left the company in the past two weeks. When district manager, regional manager, and my own manager leave all at once that usually means I got to book it out of their. Currently hanging in there for my coworkers but there is only so much one person can take.

    Advice to Management

some of our products are very over priced and our competition online and a few other major competitors offer more at their stores. Don't like that I have to on a regular basis send our customers elsewhere for a product we don't have in stock when they want it that same day.
