    Pros

No pros unless you like unpaid hours, unattainable sales quotas, working all day alone, and being expected to travel across county lines to cover shifts for $7.25/hr

    Cons

See the pros, this company was horrible, and only the hopeless and worst of the bunch stuck around post bankruptcy.

    Advice to Management

Stand up to district management about how they treat managers who in turn treat employees like trash.

    Pros

It was a fun environment. Great if you like commission. You were paid different amounts on different products.

    Cons

The hard part of it was the long hours and standing the whole time in such a small space

    Pros

There were many good thing about working for what was once Radio Shack, not anymore. RS as a company no longer exists, it's a name owned by a hedge fund.In the past two years the team spirit, culture, ideals and loyalty to employees has diminished. The removal of all district managers and the pay cut to store managers should have been the catalyst, but I stuck it out. There are still some very good managers left, though having to adapt to General Wireless is a daily burden. The constant changes aren't what did it. It's the concept that all store managers are just hourly employees. A glorified title with minimal reward. The only ones who see a benefit are the newly promoted or the dim witted managers who have happened to eek by all these years doing the bare minimum. Those whoa are upbeat are either pretending (tenured employees) or sucking up (every one else). Minimal pay for those us who had put forth the best of efforts and still see no reward for hard work. This company is not for a career, it's a summer job.

    Cons

    Minimal pay.
    Over burdened staff.
Minimal hours to work (unless you're full time).
Minimal discounts (was once 50% in some instances)
    Micro management in all aspects.
    Expensive health care.

    Advice to Management

There is no advice. Management is but a string being pulled by hedge fund management.

I worked at RadioShack full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work with great people. Discounts. Updated on latest tech. Friendly competition amongst team. Unique revolving door of customers. Learning skills

    Cons

Slave to company. Punish you for wanting to go to college. Change in spiff often. Unrealistic expectations in sales. Delusional hardcore lifers.

    Advice to Management

    Too late for that now

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have always valued the commitment the company has and tried to continue after the bankruptcy, they tend to make you feel like a family.

    Cons

Since the bankruptcy, merchandise and many other issues have made it difficult to keep our loyal customer base.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately Radio Shack's name has been tarnished and it will take ALOT of work to change this perception to our customers. Making promises to management and sales assiciates that have stayed loyal to this company despite the difficult times and not following through has led to so many issues. Most recently with paycuts that have been made to managers, this is a huge slap in the face to the people you do not want to lose. When you make a manager for more than 20yrs leave a career and job they truly loved and force them out because they cannot afford their bills, this is a mistake. You will find that over the next few months, the heart of this company, all the senior managers that are forced to leave, will be gone and without leadership that has heart, loyalty, and compassion, you will never get Radio Shack back to where it needs to be. The passion and dedication of the senior managers in this company is undeniably what has made this company last for so long, with that said, I will take my passion and strengths on to a company that cares about its people.
