I worked at RadioShack full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Like running your own company with huge income rewards in the past.Loved
being paid for performance.Liked the new technology always coming in and
    exposing customers to it.

    Cons

Started going thru a series of poor management the last few years that lacked
vision and could give the company a reason to exist .They took a once great growth
and very profitable company and imploded it.

    Advice to Management

They've taken the company from around 6500 stores to a goal now in the 200's.
You need to start pretty much start from scratch.

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pays well for the hours and and comes with a light workload. Plenty of opportunity to rise up to management positions. Highly recommended.

    Cons

The work isn't very challenging. Benefits are non existent. Co workers lack drive, ambition and aren't particularly bright. Most employees leave after a couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Offer better benefits. Hire more ambitious people who can create an atmosphere of inspiration and innovation. We can get rid of a lot of dead weight in middle management.

I worked at RadioShack full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

you are able to move up within the company, you are in control of the checks you make(hour+commission), flexible work schedule, great co workers, you do get recognized for the work you put in with in the company.

    Cons

company focus are on the wrong sales items, turnover rate is very high, they are one tract minded they try to push on certain items but ignore the sales that is driving money.

    Advice to Management

listen more to all of your employees not just managers, and general managers. Some employees don't want to move up within the company because of the extended amount of pressure you put on managers with little or no recognition for the drive they have excelled in.

I worked at RadioShack full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They had many products ,if you needed right away

    Cons

They never were telling you the truth about the company status, they were always hiding behind doors the true and sad reality, I was working more than 50 hours every week and after 45 hours the rest was for free ,because they didn't have a budget for more hours or to hire associates, and wee didn't have cover at the
Store, I'm glad that nightmare is end.

    Advice to Management

Be truly honest with your employees, telling them was going on at the company and you're going to get more from them.

I worked at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very relaxed environment when you were doing well and your manager was chill. Co-Workers had each other's backs and overall was a generally nice inside community among the salesmen and managers.

    Cons

Corporate had their head up their arse 100% of the time. My regional management spoke broken english and thought we were selling poorly because we did our jobs poorly. No foot traffic, ludicrously inflated prices (30 bucks for a 6 foot hdmi, 5 bucks for a 4 pack of bootleg chinese batteries that last as long as dollar store batteries. The list goes on.) and horrible sales goals and quotas. If we didn't have at least 10% of their garbage batteries sold in ratio to all other sales, we would get called up and chastised for not doing our jobs. And don't get me started on the Ncredibles. Sure they're okay, but for 130 I would expect much more from them. Not comfortable, embarrassing to wear and not as good as they market them. People want easy access to Beats, not some cheap knockoff. I'm glad they're going bankrupt but sorry for everyone who lost their jobs, but also glad these guys who have been here for 5+ years are finally moving on with their lives. It is NOT worth working here for longer than 6 months and it's not worth trying to climb up the market ladder when the stress for anyone under a higher management position.

    Advice to Management

To both of my former managers, I wish you both the best and you guys were awesome. Hope you find a new job.
