I have been working at RadioShack part-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you like playing with electronics the discount was ok.

    Cons

Their focus on selling smarts was the wrong strategy given the amount of competition. I mean you can buy a smartphone at your local pharmacy.

    I worked at RadioShack part-time

    Pros

If you worked in a busy enough store you could earn "some" money by selling enough phones.

    Cons

Commission based, no incentive to sell anything but cell phones.

    Advice to Management

Doesn't matter now, clearly their reliance on selling cell phones didn't work out for them.

    I worked at RadioShack part-time

    Pros

*Even though the starting pay was pretty low for part-time associates, the amount you can earn with commission added to each check is definitely substantial since you're selling iPhones/smartphones and other big ticket electronics *You get to learn a ton about the products you sell *Although I was only part-time, I know the full-time employees get discounted cellphone plans through one of the top wireless companies...

    Cons

*Small staff numbers in stores means it gets hard to ask for time off, & you always feel like you're being asked to cover coworkers' shifts *Small stores can get busy during peak times of the year and can be stressful, since you're expected to be very hands-on (take your time) with each costumer *If you don't sell many big-ticket items (smartphones/laptops/etc...) during the week, your paychecks definitely...

    Advice to Management

PAY ATTENTION TO WHO YOU SCHEDULE TO WORK THE STORE ALONE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. Don't be dumb and have the smallest women working at night and/or closing up the store by themselves!

I worked at RadioShack for more than a year

      Pros

It was a good starting job. Gave me the customer service experience that I needed for my current job. I had a great manager Kathleen who taught me a lot about being good at customer service

      Cons

Not full time. I got there after their first backruptcy. No health insurance.

I worked at RadioShack full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

the discounts were decent. you do gain alot of product knowledge through trainings, and hands on experience

      Cons

there were so many negatives. the pay wasn't the greatest or the benefits. and the commission structure was terrible. not to mention just like most retail jobs upper management expected the world from you, with little appraisal or recognition. and most of the time they gave unrealistic goals based off some computer data

      Advice to Management

even thought the company is no more, they could have done so much like treating employees right for starters. and making real goals and not goals they got from computer data thinking they can read peoples minds. you drive more business with better promotions and not being so harsh on employees especially those who actually tried
