I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with great people, Learn new things and the regular customers always make my day. Employee discount isn't bad either.

    Cons

Hours: I am a full time employee hardly pushing 40 hours a week, managers can't work over 40 hours. No overtime, they just change store hours so they don't have to pay you OT. My old manager left whenever she wanted too and still got payed for not being there.

Pay: Recently got a $1 raise,, but took away individual commission and made it team(So, less money). 2% Commission.

Most of the time you're all by yourself in the store running it, stocking shelves, taking care of customers and phone calls. Sprint gets to sit all day and do nothing, getting paid over $ 13, while you run around busting your but and hardly getting paid for it. Staffing seems hard for the company, some days are 10 hours long. Their sales goals sometimes seem impossible to make, there are good days but come rarely.

    Advice to Management

More hours, better pay for hard work

I have been working at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a friendly atmosphere with fellow employees and customers alike. Commission based pay with possible monthly bonus. Health Insurance , Dental and Vision. Paid vacations twice a year. Likes to promote within.

    Cons

Working by yourself most of the day putting up stock, taking care of customers, answering phones, and running a store all at the same time. Time sensitive deadlines without proper notice and planning on upper management's part for big projects. Just went through a bankruptcy, cut labor hours and base pay, now pays $11.50/hr. where they constantly berate their manager and have a mandatory 10hr day work week with one day off.

    Advice to Management

Plan and take better care of your employees that are the forerunners of your business who make your customer happy and make your stores run smoothly.

I worked at RadioShack part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Discounts on electronics and cables
You can learn a lot about phones and DIY soldering if that's your thing

    Cons

Low pay which is getting even lower
No opportunity for full time except for manager
    Brainwashing techniques at region meetings

    Advice to Management

Telling your employees to stand up and dance to loud music when a pay cut is announced is extremely unethical. The company deserves its fate.

I worked at RadioShack (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, potentially fun job environment on good days, fair hiring. The opportunity to "climb the ranks" is there... but does anyone really want to make a career out of Radio Shack?

    Cons

No ability to affect change, no voice, extremely low chance to increase pay. The outlook for any Radio Shack employee is bleak, and they will never run out of busy work or "absolutely mandatory" tasks that make no difference one way or another.

    Advice to Management

Provide an incentive for your employees to rise above. More customers were driven out of the door by absolutely nonplussed staff than because of any fad or competition.

I worked at RadioShack part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed at times when there is little work

    Cons

There is frequently convoluted work that is very tedious
The pressure to meet quota when the store location/stigma is often the dominant factor
Training didn't really prepare you for work.

    Advice to Management

Bring Radioshack to the 21st century

I worked at RadioShack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For sales professionals who wanted to know more about technology, Radio Shack was a good place to start. Even though, I came knowing much about Mobile technology, Radio Shack helped me to learn more and refine my selling skills.

    Cons

Radio Shack lost too many talented sales people for its lack of career advancement. I wished to continue being part of the Radio Shack family but I was forced to look for better opportunities. Thank you Radio Shack for all your help and support!

    Advice to Management

Well, I think now it's a little too late for advices since the company doesn't exist any more. My advice now would be for every company in the U.S. that study deeply the Rise and Fall of Radio Shack history.

    Pros

I have no pros it has changed since being purchased.

    Cons

Continued pay cuts can't seem to trust upper management

    Advice to Management

Have compassion and be honest. Don't continue to cut pay and benefits and expect more

I worked at RadioShack (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very hands-on; customer interaction was fantastic. I love technology, so that was a plus as well.

    Cons

Upper management did not care about internal issues; forced the wrong products upon customers that did not relate to RadioShack's niche customer base. As a Store Manager, I was often left to fend for myself as executives were too busy with numbers.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your front-line managers.

    Pros

Work with great people. Discounts. Updated on latest tech. Friendly competition amongst team. Unique revolving door of customers. Learning skills

    Cons

Slave to company. Punish you for wanting to go to college. Change in spiff often. Unrealistic expectations in sales. Delusional hardcore lifers.

    Advice to Management

    Too late for that now
