Duty not define clear, end up do other dept job cos they r not experience.micromanagers r common, some dept doing dinosaur age work, compulsory watapp msgs go beyond work week/hours, info flying everywhere n hard to gather.

I worked at Raffles Education Corp full-time

    Pros

    Excellent Lecturers and excellent students
    Amazing potential as an Institute
Superb curriculum with excellent learning outcomes which are industry relevant for students

    Cons

Poor and inefficient senior management who are not transparent. Salaries are low and often paid late. No career incentives. Teaching hours are too high for all full time Lecturers. Staff professional development is encouraged but no time is set aside for this. No financial support or support in time is offered for staff professional development e.g further studying

    Advice to Management

Treat Academic teams from overseas with more consideration in terms of salaries, benefits, incentives, annual leave entitlement and motivational goals. Be realistic and professional in staff professional development. Give people more say in the overall running of the campus. Stop the inside politics. Be more transparent.

    Pros

Lovely students and wonderful colleagues. Great way to experience a new city.

    Cons

    Where to start:
    1. low salaries compared to other countries. 2. no benefits in the contract or perks. 3.below average annual leave days (14 days is all you get, surely 20 days is standard?). 4. Every second Saturday you are working as a marketer/running workshops for a full day. 5.the company is run as an old-fashioned corporate, not as a design education institution. Little to no support from management or understanding from management about trends in design education.

    Advice to Management

Please rebrand - the company has a look and feel like it belongs in the banking industry. Research at what corporate culture of today actually is, and then you will be able to keep your staff. The massive staff turnover stems from staff being overworked and undervalued. This company has huge amounts of potential but needs a massive branding and strategy overhaul. I would love to return one day in the future is the company has a massive overhaul.

    Pros

    There is absolutely no pro's.

    Cons

The senior management takes much interest in pursuing every event on a micro-managed level. Be prepared for abuses and humiliation as they find that to be a constructive form of 'teaching' their staff.

Managers are told off (shamed) in front of the team, again as a lesson for all to learn from. You will not be spared the wrath even if there is a contractor or outsider there, when deemed necessary, you will be required to bow your head down, while standing, to be told off in the most rude and disgusting way.

Graduations are made into a fun fair ordeal where so much of money and emphasis goes into the show off aspect rather than giving the students an actual memorable event to remember. More focus goes onto the 'favourite' faculty, needless to say, Fashion Design. Bias reasons.

There is absolutely no respect for staff and some are even made to cry when tasks are not accomplished the way the senior management had envisioned it. I don't understand when the senior management will learn that they have to trust their staff to take on responsibilities. Give them a pat on the back every now and then. Commend them even if they have done something that you might have done differently and than tell them how they can better improve. Don't be quick to criticise always.

The school is being run like a corporate business with the FB posts so documented. I don't know which audience did they intend to reach out to. It is definitely not appealing to potential design students.

The methods for marketing and promotions are so ancient cause the senior management thinks he knows it all and prefers to retain strategies that are outdated. Leaving no room for staff to bring creativity to the table. If you have an idea, keep it to yourself cause otherwise you might be subjected to a tell off session on how stupid your idea is and how you have then created another problem by having the senior management to brainstorm for more creative ideas since yours was dumb. Basically everyone is dumb, with no point of views, as per the senior management.

My experience there has been one of the most unforgettable and disturbing one. I had never been subjected to embarrassment like I experienced in Raffles. They literally tore my self esteem and confidence apart with their obnoxious treatment.

For your own sanity, stay away from this ramsay kitchen.

    Advice to Management

There is nothing one can say that will ever have an effect on you. Just beware of Karma, it comes around when you least expect it.

    Pros

Running University of Northumbria Business and Interior Design degree programmes. Students need not study outside the country for their UK degree. All lessons taught in English.

    Cons

Narrow programme range and old building. Fees are more than other institutes but at least the UK degree is globally recognized.

    Advice to Management

Expand the range of courses to what Mongolia needs e.g. Hospitality, Tourism Management, Service Excellence, Retail Management, and move to a newer building

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Raffles Education Corp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Surabaya campus has a great central location with wonderful colleagues

    Cons

As others noted the management does not fully cover visa run expenses when the lecturer has to get a new Indonesian visa in Singapore. Sometimes lecturers have to work illegally on visitor visas. High turn over of local & foreign staff. Management's focus on money alone has created a toxic office environment!

    Advice to Management

Stop exploiting your lecturers and staff and care more about the students whose parents pay exorbitant tuition fees to study at Raffles. Offer career growth to your lecturers and stop employing them illegally on visitor visas.
