I have been working at Rain Bird full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great Compensation
    Engaging & Rewarding Work
    Top Notch Employees/Coworkers

    Cons

Private company, so information sharing is minimal. This is not necessarily a con, just a different setting than most people are used to.

I have been working at Rain Bird full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very talented co-workers, great pay, challenging roles and good career growth opportunities make this a good company to work for. People who are suited for this company, tend to stay for many many years. Those that cannot cope are usually gone within a year or two. If you like challenges and willing to work hard, this is the place to be.

    Cons

Negativity from some staff members, lack of communication from senior management down the line and some uninspiring work spaces are cons

    Advice to Management

Remove the negative people, motivate the performers by talking to them more openly and sell your decisions and this company will go to greater heights

I have been working at Rain Bird full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

High caliber employees (best I've ever worked with)
    Good compensation (salary and bonus)
Good benefits (health, dental, 401K, ect)
I like working for Rain Bird because I'm always challenged to find a better way to do my job. I'm never bored and have the support of my management. If you have a good idea the management team will listen and you have the opportunity to effect real change within your sphere of influence. The structure of the organization allows potential for promotions in other business units if there is no immediate position available in your business unit.

    Cons

The environment is not for everyone. If you are not an intrinsically motivated individual you could find the results based environment challenging.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to employees. Many good ideas come up from the people in the "trenches".

    Pros

My experience is different then many posted here. I thought the company had many nice perks and a number of training options. As long as you worked hard you seemed to get ahead.

    Cons

The company is fairly large. Some people may not be able to handle the levels of management and the number of approvals that were required to complete projects.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate to your managers. They are the keys to getting the work done each year.

    Pros

There are lots of opportunities for advancement either within your present Business Unit, or across company divisions. You are surrounded by a mostly talented group of employees; those that can't keep up with the pace stand out quickly; that's just fine with the majority of us. Opportunity to demonstrate leadership, responsibility and a get-it-done attitude almost always results in new experiences. Many believe that Rain Bird builds the best products in the irrigation business, bar none.

    Cons

Management and co-workers can really stack on the work. This is not a nine to five experience and you really have to work smart to find the right work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Read carefully; this site is filled with comments from those who are void of self-responsibility.

    Pros

Rain Bird provides it's employees with a tremendous amount of autonomy. For a motivated, self-starter who doesn't require a large amount of oversight, this is a great company.
Rain Bird highly values employees who are motivated to excel in their current role as well as future career. Top performing staff are highly compensated and enjoy an environment of risk taking, can-do strategic thinking, and creativeness. Excuses are not an option. Those who do not thrive in this type of an environment usually don't succeed at Rain Bird.

    Cons

The multiple business units at Rain Bird sometimes require a juggling of priorities and place extra burdens on staff. Rain Bird's short term focus sometimes undermines long term success.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management must always remain in touch with the customer. The importance of the customer's perspective as well as the growth of the company will determine the long term success of Rain Bird.
