    Pros

Smart, talented people. Focus is on results. Stretch goals. You can't succeed here without working hard and collaborating.

    Cons

Micro-managed. Political. Inept marketing and product development group. Sr. Management never accepts the blame of their own strategies.

    Advice to Management

You hire good people, set the goals and let them figure out how to deliver. Improve your marketing team, they are very ineffective.

    Pros

Great peers and talent in the trenches.

    Cons

Toxic corporate culture. The corpse rots from the head.

    Advice to Management

Keep shopping the sale...the only thing that will bring the needed change.

I have been working at Rain Bird (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people that worked there were really nice. The work was easy. I was a temp so they would make me do all kinds of things around the warehouse but it was a good experience.

    Cons

The biggest issues sometimes was the face that so many people were temps. The turnover rate was kind of high for the company. It was difficult dealing with work issues sometimes because so many people didn't know how to do something because they were new or learning.

    Advice to Management

I would say to try and keep your eyes on some of the temps. Many of them liked to mess around and not do their work.

    Pros

Well know products and well established organization having systematic sales performance measurement. Basically given to you all necessary minimum equipment to follow up business.

    Cons

No initiative given although it is said so. well under paid and constantly monitored by the supervisors. as per of the systematic sales performance does not affect employees earnings.

    Advice to Management

all needed to be changed or they need to change their strategy to keep well equipped people in the company. well, good product does not live forever, good people can carry the company to the future.

I worked at Rain Bird full-time

    Pros

Pay is good for the area, great people to work with

    Cons

Outdated tools and systems, divisions pitted against each other rather than working together, caustic environment. Management is rewarded for suppressing and taking credit for subordinates. Penny pinching goes to unrealistic limits. Generally, overqualified people are hired and encouraged to negatively compete with colleagues for very limited opportunities to advance. You have to be a certain kind of person to be most successful here - that would include sharp and witted to override anything else anyone says, and a willingness to attack your colleagues into submission.

    Advice to Management

Major changes would be needed to make this a better place to work.

    Pros

Company has strong financial backing, a committed leadership team to doing the right thing both for employees and customers. Company has value in self ownership and entrepreneurial behavior - which at times has been misunderstood. The opportunities seem endless from within Rain Bird and perfect for someone who is interested in making a mark and producing results. Many members of senior leadership started in (professional) entry level positions - so they know what it is like in the field and know how to evaluate and support performance.

    Cons

Rain Bird hires top talent making the organization with a lot of good people wanting to be the best. This is good for some and not good for others.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Rain Bird is changing in a positive direction from both the inside and out over the past 5 years and I believe management will help Rain Bird continue to grow, expand and provide great opportunities to its people.

I worked at Rain Bird full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Regular paycheck, decent benefits but that's about all.

    Cons

Terrible management, short sighted, not honest, and very heavy handed. I lasted two months before resigning after seeing their practices with people, moving engineers to Tucson, then firing them before a year, just a tinderbox.

Management acted like you were lucky to be there and you were scrutinized like you were stealing from them. Anywhere else those clowns would never have those positions, quite possiblly the most unprofessional company with which I've ever been connected.

    Advice to Management

I don't think any would be taken or worth the time. This is a warning to anyone considering working there that "it won't be different for you".

    Pros

Great place to learn, people with great experience

    Cons

Upper management don't take care of people they are allowing people to leave with years of experience, and give control of departments to people with absolutely no experience on the field, taking stupid decisions for product and company

    Advice to Management

Take care of people, the mayority how have leave will probabbly continue working there if the correct decisions were made

I have been working at Rain Bird full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is a company that supports local teams well. They are very results oriented and are not so much focused on your "activity", but what you accomplish. So this is not a job for an account baby-sitter, but really is a true sales job. If you don't like sales, you probably won't like this job. The Product Managers for all types of products are not only available to you, but they actually want to interact with the sales people and their customers. In short, I have nothing but good things to say about the management and the company. If you are not results oriented, however, this may not be the place for you.

    Cons

There is some busy work and multiple spreadsheets that you must manage, which is typical with a company that does not use CRM. I would not let this deter you in joining Rain Bird, but it can be a bit cumbersome from time to time. Also, as a Contractor Account Manager, sometimes the customer service portion of the job is a little too much. But the way I look at that, is if you are keeping your customers happy, they will buy from you.

    Advice to Management

Don't follow the road of product development for products that are not viable or do not really fit within the Rain Bird Core (such as drainage, valve boxes, etc.)
