I have been working at Rain Bird (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Supported personal and professional development.

    Cons

Lack of training and on-boarding make it difficult to mesh with company and immediate team at the start of employment.

I have been working at Rain Bird (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good quality products. Stable, well established company and industry. There are a few major competitors, and a few new comers which will not last.

    Cons

Interesting organizational chemistry. I actually like working here from a team perspective. Good employees, professionally astute but beaten down. Initiative discouraged, though officially promoted.

    Advice to Management

Many here for their entire professional lives. No broad experience, but very dedicated. Half a downside, I guess. Biggest issue is that no decisions are truly left to anyone below senior management.

I worked at Rain Bird full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Above average pay
    Good people to work with
Product is of a good quality
Name is well known in industry
    Sorry, not much else

    Cons

So many accurate reviews already written and they are true. Amazon must have copied the Rainbird method. They just aren't upfront with what it will be like working there. Ask basic questions such as: "What is turnover?" They will say "high but most people can't take working for such a high performance company" The Alpha in you will say, "But I can". It's not a high performance organization in terms of product development like an Amazon or Google. It's a old line irrigation company and you won't understand the rules until it is too late. Just take heed of what has been written thus far

    Advice to Management

It wouldn't matter what is written. They won't listen and upper management has figured out the owner's pain points

    Pros

This is a team oriented company that pays well and has good benefits. They are working hard to listen to employees to improve employees experience so they can succeed. There are lots of opportunities to advance your career, but you have to take the initiative to pursue.

    Cons

Things do not change rapidly, but are changing

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees who have new views of how to make things better

I worked at Rain Bird full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of broad experience based on minimal staffing. Opportunity to grow for top performers, only. Not having to worry about job security, because you are always being evaluated for elimination.

    Cons

Stifled word environment. Excessive justification for bottom up projects, minimal justification for management pet projects. Leads to lack of direction. Retroactive promotions if any at all.

    Advice to Management

The complete HR organization is broken. Replace it.

I worked at Rain Bird full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great environment, lots of opportunities, good wages.

    Cons

The upper managing does not believe on workers capacities and does not provide career enhancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

I do believe that providing opportunities to the workers show their capabilities and delegating them jobs opportunities, is better to reach out higher results.
Definetly this is more profitable than working on numbers and cost reductions!

    Pros

Excellent place to work for driven individuals. You're given room to prove your worth and top performance is rewarded.

    Cons

I wouldn't consider the company a fun place to work. I would say that there is high turnover rate and lack of stability in certain work-groups. HR is not extraordinary.

    Advice to Management

    Review the benefits program.
