I have been working at Raley's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great hours, friendly staff, great flexibility with school. I would really recommend this job to anyone starting out working who wants a decent pay.

    Cons

Always on your feet always running around retrieving items and cleaning up messes. Picking up carts in the hot sun or freezing cold.

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, decent employees, usually understanding management

    Cons

Tough hours, constantly away from family, favoritism, 1 person expected to do the job of 3 or more people.

    Advice to Management

The favoritism at the oakhurst store has got to stop. Certain people get preferential treatment constantly and others are stuck cleaning up the mess, them getting criticized when it isn't done well enough despite a severe lack of help. Certain people get to essentially make their own schedule. Come in early, leave early, work half days, and never take responsibility for any of it. They call off work constantly and leave tons for the other employees to work on. The work load usually falls on the same people. Also the hours are never consistent and some people are stuck with the worst shifts every day whether they have seniority or not. There is a non-existent balance of work and family with some employees rarely getting to spend time with theirs. The work load gets bigger, and the amount of help gets smaller. And again, the FAVORITISM!

    -401k (not matched by employer)
    -Union

    -Paid Weekly

    Cons

-“Moving up” not encouraged or offered after becoming clerk (there are no positions in upper management available)
-Unfair expectations for some employees, while others are not expected to do much at all
    -Hypocritical Managment
-Voices or employees remain unheard, even when the management admits the need for improvement
    -Schedule changes weekly

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO YOUR TEAM, and BACK THEM UP. You are their voices to corporate. Stop letting them bully you into just being “yes men.”

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

people you work with are fun, flexible with hours, employee discount, good place to work at if it'll be your first job, good job for those who are in college, Union

    Cons

managers, make you work twice as hard because managers don't want to schedule enough people (they want their bonus), sometimes they don't respect your availability, men get promoted quicker, women are usually at a checkstand most of the time (that gets tiring), do not respect your seniority, Union (they don't really do much) isn't as informative as they need to be

    Advice to Management

build a friendly relationship with their employees, care about their employees
