I worked at Ralph Lauren part-time

    Pros

Working at the upscale RL like in the Galleria Houston you get paid a commission and there is allot of high $ sales so lots of money to be paid. The outlet is the opposite, completely different. It's hourly and at least you can pick your hours

    Cons

commission sales is VERY competitive and employees working there for a long time don't want you waiting on 'their' customers. I even had to give my time and sales to the so called claimed customers of other employees. Outlet pays low and folding and removing from dressing room is all you do it seems except stand at cash register and ring endless sales

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees, be fair and make it fun

    Pros

Not micro managed. Willing to let employees take on more. Always room for improvement for the environments. You can always take in more.

    Cons

Slow to adapt to new technologies. Unless you are in NY, chances for promotion is low. IT VP will not communicate the future plans. Headed to cloud and doesn't rehire.

    Advice to Management

Bad upper management. Doesn't listen to employees

    Pros

Good work life balance. Systems are up to date and IT really listens to your questions and tries to help as much as possible.

    Cons

Relocated position to NJ without asking how anyone felt. Very nasty and not sympathetic when people expressed concern/ questions. Horrible pay couldn't afford to buy lunch sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Need to improve pay because it is not a live able wage in NYC. Act like you care instead of rolling eyes at employees when they express concerns about job relocation.

    Respected brand.
Great way to learn fashion from the ground up.
    Diverse array of people.
Very passionate company - people really love the brand!

    Cons

Company culture can be negative and borderline toxic.
    No room for growth.
No room for new ideas - the company repeats the same things year round (both business & design), that have not been working for years.
Company lost 60% of it's value in the last 2 years. Needs help.

    Advice to Management

Everything comes from the top down - corporate and upper management needs to get their act together.
