      Stay Away

      Pros

Pays well when you hit top pay. Bonuses can be substantial if you meet most department/store goals.

      Cons

Terrible work/life balance. Managers from store level to top of company are inept or willfully negligent. Unobtainable goals and constant belittling of those who are unable to meet them. Hires only the most pathetic workers and then is surprised when action items are not completed even after they are told multiple times. Rolls out new company standards about every two to three years (really just renames the current standards), but then neglects to spend any time training workers on how to implement new processes, just expects it to be done immediately. You try to ask any questions about it and managers will have no answers because they themselves don't even understand it. Embarrassing.

      Pros

You can work 48+ hours a week if that's what you're looking for.

      Cons

Horrible work environment. They do not treat their employees well or care about them at all. I was not ever allowed to have my 10 minute break when i worked in the bakery. Illegal.

      Easy Job

Jan 31, 2021 - Courtesy Clerk in Thousand Oaks, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The Job is very laid back and as long as you can stand for long periods of time and push some carts around you pretty much got it down. The people are also very nice and management is understanding as long as you do your job. The opportunity to move up is very easy and if you show management that you want to move up and get more money they will help you. This is a union job and you get health care as a part-time worker as long as you've been with the company for at least a year. Scheduling is flexible for the most part.

      Cons

Some stores are understaffed with courtesy clerks and they tend to call out a bit and the other coworkers must make up for it. So there will be weeks that you work only 18 hours and there will be weeks that you work 40 hours. Customers can be a pain sometimes.
