I worked at Randa Accessories full-time

    Pros

Solid financial footing. Good reputation with major retailers. Good entry level.

    Cons

This company is top and bottom heavy. You have to pander to the VPs and be willing to work for low wages. There's favoritism and politics at play all the time.

    Pros

No Weekend hours. Will stick to 20 hours a week. You pick your days to work.

    Cons

No real benefits. Must work day after Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Advice to Management

Don't micro manage people and waste time on things that do not help the overall goal of getting the product to the floor and making it look good.

  5. "Relaxed Culture"

I worked at Randa Accessories as an intern

    Pros

Randa does a great job of making sure good employees are taken care of and that there is a good working environment.

    Cons

The relaxed culture leads to a lot of mistakes that sometimes multiple days/weeks to correct. Additionally the internship program was not well thought out.

    Advice to Management

While a relaxed atmosphere is great, making sure that tasks are done correctly and within a certain time frame are equally as important.

I have been working at Randa Accessories full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

One if the only Fashion places to work in city.

    Cons

The more you give the more you take. Senior management micro manages all work. Expected to work extreme hours without overtime compensation, while those getting overtime cannot and are told to not work more than 40 hours a week. Not fair to those working harder than you and longer without the compensation.

    Advice to Management

Pay a better salary and keep employees longer and see attitude changes. Money does make the world go round!

    Pros

Growth potential is very high, benefits are affordable. Hard working hourly associates.

    Cons

Lack of support from management. Unknown schedules. Job security no matter how hard you work, you never know if your next to be walked out.

    Advice to Management

Support your supervisors and leads. When they need help give it to them and stand behind their decisions. Don't give them more departments they what they can handle. It is overwhelming and can causing shipping problems and deadlines to be missed.

    Pros

The management staff was A+++. Very professional. The job was straight forward. Minimum office politics, compared to other companies I have worked for. Congenial atmosphere.

    Cons

Absolutely no room for advancement. The pay was ridiculously low, even by New Orleans standards. It was near impossible to live on the hourly wage or salaries offered. There was occasionally a disconnect between the IT and other departments. Between departments, such as IT and the CS, there were huge communication gaps. On several occasions, IT system upgrades were not communicated to other departments. This was not seen as an issue even though it greatly impacted job performance of other departments. This seemed odd. And, the IT departments gruff reactions were also odd. More inter-departmental communication is certainly needed.

    Advice to Management

Please pay employees more. It is impossible to retain good employees on such low wages; the company needs to invest in their employees to maintain satisfaction.
