I have been working at Randalls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits-pension plan, 401k, discounted purchases. Plus the usual, insurance vacation, personal days. Usually a clean air conditioned environment. Good coworkers.

    Cons

As older seasoned managers leave(or disappear), they are replaced with new (hired from the outside) people who have little if any experience in the grocery industry, and don't understand that customers come first, and you need trained employees to serve them. If you are missing a skilled person you can't replace them with a sacker, and say show them how and make it work.
There are still a few good ones left, but not many.

    Advice to Management

Look at the history of Randalls, not Albertsons(which failed here) to get an idea of what it was like. Teach managers to live customer service, and not talk about it. Hire and train enough employees to service the customers you still have. Send the Supervisory people to some Disney classes to see how it should be done.

I worked at Randalls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Customers are pretty cool for the most part. Not a lot of HEB customer riff raff.

    Cons

Labor goals are unrealistic. Not enough hrs to take care of customers. Salary mgrs work 12 to 14 hrs a day and still never caught up. Highest levels of company management are rude and condescending.

    Advice to Management

Hey Albertsons, ever heard of the pro-employee philosophy?

I have been working at Randalls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, great pay once you have been there awhile, large company, employee discount, good benefits, 401 k

    Cons

Working holidays and weekends, long hours unexpected over time, newly formed backstage support from merged company are inexperienced and blame their ineptitude on store employees

    Advice to Management

Work on being more competitive on starting pay. Remember that pressure put on top management trickles down to store employees

    Pros

Nice and friendly coworkers. Management does well in scheduling my shifts as being a full time student.

    Cons

Low pay - minimum wage, rude customers, lack of appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as you treat customers. Raise the pay for employees, as minimum wage isn't enough to support a family.

    Pros

Some managers were nice. Everyone hated their job equally.

    Cons

38-40 hrs/wk. No fulltime benifits offered. Worked there 2 years. Fired for taking a break past 7pm, by our new store director. No joke

    Advice to Management

Dont hire store directors that neglect their job, employees, or both.
