    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Randolph College part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Family atmosphere where almost everyone knows and cares about you.

    Cons

Some admins seem to think the same approach will deliver better results than before and clash with others if given suggestions stunting growth of student body.

    Advice to Management

Have more open box suggestions on approaches and allow departments that thrive decide their path and approach for the future and take those giving advice from the thriving areas to help those struggling.

I worked at Randolph College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Challenging and encouraging environment.
    High level of interdepartmental collaboration.
Flexible hours for student assistant and work study positions.
Opportunities to learn new skills and network.

    Cons

There weren't many downsides to this position, save that salary was set at minimum wage for student workers with no potential to increase.

    Advice to Management

I was pleased with my experience working as a work study student at Randolph College and have no direct advice to improve the position.

I worked at Randolph College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are extremely liberal, you'll love it. Things are probably better now than they used to be though.

    Cons

If you're only slightly liberal or lean to the right in any way, forget it.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Randolph College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the things I liked best about working in the chemistry department was the friendly and encouraging attitudes of my superiors. I was encouraged to ask questions, be confident, and feel like part of the team. I was also appreciated for my hard work and praised accordingly.

    Cons

The student worker positions don't pay much (minimum wage), but because of the hands on experience I gained with teaching, lab protocol, and instruments - something that is so rare in larger universities - so the benefit of the position isn't really monetary compensation.

    Advice to Management

I do not have any complaints nor advice for management at this time. Both the professor and the lab manager I worked with were wonderful.

    Pros

Friendly supervisors, flexible hours. I usually have time to do homework while working. Friendly coworkers as well. Learned teamwork.

    Cons

I can only work a certain number of hours. Minimum wage. Other than that, there is not really a con working there.

I have been working at Randolph College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours aren't too long. Get to tutor a range of different students while also improving your own writing and editing skills.

    Cons

Not very many because the only real con is when there are tutees that are hard to work with and that happens very infrequently.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Randolph College (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Cost of living is cheap in the area - some of the younger staff/faculty are easy to connect with -

    Cons

    - low pay with high expectations -college has not updated its facilities in forever, it's embarrassing to try to sell to students - they are not willing to put their money where their mouth is for marketing efforts - decent student body, but a little awkward - a lot of employee turn over on the staff side because of low pay/high expectations - still set in their old ways and so is a lot of the left over staff from RMWC.

    Advice to Management

Not everyone on senior staff has a clue as to what they are doing. Make changes, so you can attract useful successful people.
