I have been working at Rapid Displays full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Rapid has some of the most exciting clients and projects to work on in the in store marketing world. They have assembled a diverse team of talented designer, engineers, project managers and account managers to serve extremely demanding clients. It's a work hard play hard kind of environment.

    Cons

You are expected to be very good at what you do. If you are mediocre or just don't want work hard for great results this is probably not the right place for you

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring the best and brightest of the young folks out there to keep the company vibrant and forward looking.

I worked at Rapid Displays full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Free company golf outing.
    10 days PTO

    Cons

Blatant circumvention and exploitation of a predominantly immigrant workforce via the use of temp agencies that do the absolute minimum to vet the validity of the temporary workforce's legal status. Extreme conditions in the plant area during warm climates. Temps rising well past 100 degrees during the summer. Pay scale is the absolute lowest amount the owners can get away with to retain permanent employees. Nepotism is blatantly encouraged but limited to the office staff. Opportunities for career advancement are virtually non existent, Middle management is competent but also aware of the exploitative practices. The model for operations is churn & burn with unlimited human resources available to the company since they use multiple temp agencies for 80% of factory workforce.

    Advice to Management

Eventually the model of churn and burn exploitation will catch up with you. I would look into outsourcing your operations. Since you clearly have no moral compass you may as well save yourself the legal and operational hassles by opening a plant in a country that has the same moral convictions as you do.

I have been working at Rapid Displays full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere, where people work hard and play hard. I have a lot of fun working at Rapid and some of my best friends are my peers. A financially strong company that doesnt lay people off. They seem to take care of employees financially and pay a more than fair wage.

    Cons

Southside location is a good commute for where I live

    Advice to Management

Love the new re-modeling, it's making it a much more cool and pleasant place to work.

I worked at Rapid Displays full-time

    Pros

Interesting work product and clients, some very fun and interesting people to work with.

    Cons

Inconsistent or no processes, policies. People are not valued or treated equally. If management likes you then you are fine but if not, watch your back. Poor leadership.

    Advice to Management

Really evaluate who you have in leadership.

I have been working at Rapid Displays full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good:
Departments are like big families, and all help one another - this is a family-owned company, too. Fun holiday perks - Christmas parties, company anniversary party, turkeys given for Thanksgiving. The environment is usually busy and many people are able to travel for work on installations, to different clients, and even to factories overseas. My supervisor is very fair and there is room for advancement if you wish it. Hope you like meetings - there are plenty of them! The workforce is diverse and employs many people from different ethnicities. Very good pay!

    Cons

Indulgences for folks (extra vacation days, team building retreats in Mexico & California) in sales that seem unfair to other hard-working people in other departments. It would also be nice to get better health care for less money.

    Advice to Management

More team-building activities and educational retreats for departments other than sales. It would be nice to see some females in management positions.

I worked at Rapid Displays full-time

    Pros

initial communications and visit to company were very pleasant with all personnel making a great effort to make me feel welcome

    Cons

very toxic environment to work in, outsiders to the company those not related or recommended by an insider are treated poorly no matter how much you bring to the table

    Advice to Management

make sure to understand what new people bring in and give them a chance to show you what they can do before everyone decides to throw them under the bus
