    Pros

-Good Pay -Good Work/Life Balance -Ability to be creative -Ability to be apart of fast growing team -Culture is what YOU make of it. -Flexibility & treated like an Adult -Career growth when you prove yourself SHOCKS me to some of the previous reviews. Rapid7 is a great place to work. I understand Manager to Manager may be different here (in terms of culture) but I've never felt like I didn't have a voice or that wasn't something I could help influence or control for my future development here. I have a very strong outlook on R7 future growth and I know we will continue to grow our brand & within the CyberSec Market.

    Cons

-We need more people who are committed to working hard to receive high commission/rewards for their effort -We need focused / AE high caliber talent to assist other AEs become elite AEs.

    Pros

Great benefits, forward looking company, plenty of capital to spend (for better or worse).

    Cons

Work life balance is nearly non-existant in engineering. They have many very smart, dedicated (obsessive) engineers, who don't need sleep and don't understand why you do. With so many smart people, it often feels like everyone is moving somewhere but nobody knows where or really has the bigger picture. Long story short, they make impressive products, but I can't recommend this job to anyone who wants a separation between work/home... or anyone that wants to feel valued even they pull extra hours. There is plenty of talks about making things better, but truthfully they don't seem to have the dedicated focus to actually implement much of it. There is extensive 'training' but it's obviously very rarely considered day-to-day.

You will work hard, you will learn a lot, and if you are committed...you can be really successful!

    Pros

The people are amazing and everyone is willing to help you. However, they aren't going to spoon feed you... you need to be proactive and not be afraid to ask for help. The training and enablement when you start is also very good. They give you time to get comfortable with the technology and the company before they throw you right on the phones. This company is also very team oriented so you have a great support system to help you develop. I was very confident in the leadership at the top and they continued to bring in top talent during my entire 2 year tenure across the entire business. It is a fun company to work for and there are always competitions that award you additional incentives and keep you motivated. Just a sample of these types of rewards: Team Dinners, Exclusive Athletic Events, Exclusive Concert Experiences, Gift Cards, etc. If there was something that would motivate you or your team to succeed all you had to do was ask and there was a good chance they would make it happen. Earning potential was uncapped in sales and there were people here in their mid 20's who made over $200K last year. Outside my direct experience in sales I was also extremely impressed with several other departments as everyone is committed to making this company one of the best places to work and exceeding customer expectations. This a fast growing company and they hire talented, smart, and competitive people who are eager to learn and produce results quickly. If you are one of these people and you want to be around other like-minded professionals- this could be a great fit!

    Cons

This is a place that demands a lot from employees. I don't believe that is a con on the company, I think it is that people who interview say they are willing to work hard and can handle the demanding workload when in reality they aren't prepared to. You will work long hours, you will experience pressure when it comes to billing and forecasting... but they do give you ample time to develop and will work with you if you are having difficulties. If you are looking for a 9-5 this is not for you. If you are looking for an 8-6 this is probably also not for you...unless you are willing to put in work outside normal hours or are an extremely efficient person who learns very quickly. Like I said above...if you work hard and pick it up quickly there are tons of incentives and you can make some serious money. No one who makes $150-200K+ doesn't work hard or make sacrifices that may affect their personal lives or work life balance.

You're graded on your work, not appearances

Nov 25, 2020 - Software Engineer in Dublin, Dublin

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Brilliant engineering managers who give timely feedback, mentor well and keep you in the loop - Amazing events organized by Workplace Experience Coordinators - Great higher level management - Engineers are given time and resources to address technical debt - No micro-management; what matters is the work you deliver - Very flexible work-hours; as long as you attend your meetings and get your work done, no questions are asked - Realistic expectations meaning amazing work-life balance and low stress; if you so choose it (there's always more work to be done) - Great testing approach (TDD) which means high velocity and confidence in product along with frequent deployments - Great compensation and benefits: RSUs with frequent vesting, ESPP, yearly bonus, good life/health insurance, pension plan with great employee matching on contributions - Generally all great engineers in the office (few bad apples who have no attention to detail or aren't good collaborators or sadly both) - Engineers own the technical side, if you want to change anything you can as long as you get your pull request reviewed

    Cons

    - There's A LOT of legacy components and a lot of work to be done to be able to scale more efficiently and addressing technical debt - Office politics: if you're not liked by a clique of people at the top you're probably screwed, you'll have a toxic employment and have people talking behind your back, there's certainly a few people you want to avoid as much as possible

No regret leaving this company, In-fact it was a sigh of relief!

    Pros

It was close to the south station other than that I cannot think of anything good about this place. It was a nightmare to work in this company. I have seen a manager who was so inappropriate he use to floss at his desk yuck (Gagging as I am writing this review) Scratch his private parts not thinking that there are girls/women around. He was inappropriate about making jokes about his pregnant wife, also a racist to the core (no kidding, made so many jokes about Indian/Asian/black people in team meetings). To make things worse, he hired a guy who was an accused rapist(huge story on insta #metoo by that girl), anyways the director was good enough to ask the guy to leave. I am writing this review as I was asked by few people at R7 and it was important for people to know how bad the work culture is at this company. Work life balance sucks so royally you have no idea until you land there to work. I am super happy (can't emphasize enough) that I made a right decision by leaving this company.

    Cons

Mgmt forces employees to write good reviews about the company, people considering to work for this company please talk to former employees. I wish glassdoor has an option. Pretty immature leadership, more focused on trying to look cool than living by their principals. Seriously very disrespectful to women. This is very accurate - Management can't get themselves together. They change their minds weekly and get upset when you can't understand what they want. Senior management will ignore you even if they see you daily. It's like you're always a stranger unless they need something. There is "unlimited vacation time" but you will be reprimanded if you take it. Managers and senior management gossip about other employees in front of everyone. Each manager does reporting a different way so you will never get it right. Be ready to be "thrown under the bus" even if you did what was asked.

    Rapid7 Response

Wow, I'm incredibly horrified to read this review, and to learn of the experience you had here. I wish that you had raised this to our senior leadership who could have taken action to address while you were here, telling us anonymously allows us to only guess at what and who you are referring to, which doesn't give us the best opportunity to investigate or make appropriate changes if necessary. Interestingly, we've been doing some work with women on the sales floor (who now make up 26% of our AE team) , and have heard very little of this sentiment, so we'll keep digging. I'm so sorry this was your experience, but I invite you to give me a call so we can discuss in more depth; we seek to build the best possible environment for our people, and your comments are clearly not representative of that.
