I have been working at Rapid7 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Good Pay -Good Work/Life Balance -Ability to be creative -Ability to be apart of fast growing team -Culture is what YOU make of it. -Flexibility & treated like an Adult -Career growth when you prove yourself SHOCKS me to some of the previous reviews. Rapid7 is a great place to work. I understand Manager to Manager may be different here (in terms of culture) but I've never felt like I didn't have a voice or that wasn't something I could help influence or control for my future development here. I have a very strong outlook on R7 future growth and I know we will continue to grow our brand & within the CyberSec Market.

    Cons

-We need more people who are committed to working hard to receive high commission/rewards for their effort -We need focused / AE high caliber talent to assist other AEs become elite AEs.

I worked at Rapid7 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Wow, this was a fantastic company to work for. I was on the UX team and it just made my life heaven while I worked there. Really fostered learning opportunities, encouraged people to solve problems a little outside of their job boundaries, great work life balance, and (my team specifically) group support and interest in each other's lives. I have friends from R7 that will be my friends for life.

    Cons

I left because of a prolonged communication issue. That seemed to be a general issue at R7, communication within teams and across companies / depts / layers. I know I was not the only person to leave over this. Also, I wanted to be promoted up the seniority ladder in my role but was, for the most part, not given a lot of instruction on how to do so. Also sometimes I felt like during all hands / town halls / big meetings, our exec board would give us the run around on the questions that were selected to be answered. Almost like they wanted to say, hey look we answered your question, but actually, we didn't.

I worked at Rapid7 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It was close to the south station other than that I cannot think of anything good about this place. It was a nightmare to work in this company. I have seen a manager who was so inappropriate he use to floss at his desk yuck (Gagging as I am writing this review) Scratch his private parts not thinking that there are girls/women around. He was inappropriate about making jokes about his pregnant wife, also a racist to the core (no kidding, made so many jokes about Indian/Asian/black people in team meetings). To make things worse, he hired a guy who was an accused rapist(huge story on insta #metoo by that girl), anyways the director was good enough to ask the guy to leave. I am writing this review as I was asked by few people at R7 and it was important for people to know how bad the work culture is at this company. Work life balance sucks so royally you have no idea until you land there to work. I am super happy (can't emphasize enough) that I made a right decision by leaving this company.

    Cons

Mgmt forces employees to write good reviews about the company, people considering to work for this company please talk to former employees. I wish glassdoor has an option. Pretty immature leadership, more focused on trying to look cool than living by their principals. Seriously very disrespectful to women. This is very accurate - Management can't get themselves together. They change their minds weekly and get upset when you can't understand what they want. Senior management will ignore you even if they see you daily. It's like you're always a stranger unless they need something. There is "unlimited vacation time" but you will be reprimanded if you take it. Managers and senior management gossip about other employees in front of everyone. Each manager does reporting a different way so you will never get it right. Be ready to be "thrown under the bus" even if you did what was asked.

    Rapid7 Response

Wow, I'm incredibly horrified to read this review, and to learn of the experience you had here. I wish that you had raised this to our senior leadership who could have taken action to address while you were here, telling us anonymously allows us to only guess at what and who you are referring to, which doesn't give us the best opportunity to investigate or make appropriate changes if necessary. Interestingly, we've been doing some work with women on the sales floor (who now make up 26% of our AE team) , and have heard very little of this sentiment, so we'll keep digging. I'm so sorry this was your experience, but I invite you to give me a call so we can discuss in more depth; we seek to build the best possible environment for our people, and your comments are clearly not representative of that. I worked at Rapid7 full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, forward looking company, plenty of capital to spend (for better or worse).

    Cons

Work life balance is nearly non-existant in engineering. They have many very smart, dedicated (obsessive) engineers, who don't need sleep and don't understand why you do. With so many smart people, it often feels like everyone is moving somewhere but nobody knows where or really has the bigger picture. Long story short, they make impressive products, but I can't recommend this job to anyone who wants a separation between work/home... or anyone that wants to feel valued even they pull extra hours. There is plenty of talks about making things better, but truthfully they don't seem to have the dedicated focus to actually implement much of it. There is extensive "training" but it's obviously very rarely considered day-to-day.

I worked at Rapid7 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

most people there are pleasant to work with and make work bearable.

    Cons

Where do I begin? Coming into Rapid7 they paint you a picture of opportunities, morals, values, great work/life balance, the "cool" company to work for. Well, let me give you a warning - run, and run FAR. People are treated extremely poor there, especially the Account Executives. Higher ups, like Christina Luconi pretend to care about your concerns, but don't. Have a problem with HR? Well don't bother confiding in them either because they will probably tell your manager/director and you'll end up on a plan or fired. The place is like a high school with gossip and talking behind peoples backs. I wanted to stay at Rapid7 because cyber-security really is relevant, but it just wasn't worth it. My colleagues were awesome to work with but if you value your sanity and having a life outside of work, just look elsewhere. Oh, and if you see positive reviews on here, it's because recruitment asked them to do it.

I have been working at Rapid7 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have been with Rapid7 for over 3 years now, and with that, I've seen this company evolve from a "all hands on deck, anything to get the deal over the line" start up feeling company to what it is today, which can be better described as medium sized organization with ambitious growth goals and looking for the best way to balance scale and maintaining culture along the way. I looked over some of the recent reviews of people saying "there's no work life balance," "you need to make 50 dials / day" etc. and then I reflect on some of the people who have left in the last 12 months. Yes, we lost some good people out there, folks who had been top performers and natural leaders across the sales floor who are missed for both their morale and their contributions to Rapid7. But for the most part, we've lost people who didn't have any passion for the job, for the organization, and weren't willing to put in the work. They weren't coachable, they didn't want to try new things and get creative, or lean into learning. And many of these folks got lucky in the first 6 months with monster deals that fell onto their plate, and then when it came time to build their own brand, they bailed. I don't miss these people. What I can say is that I've built my sales career here. I started back in 2014 as a awkward wobbly sales rep (at best), but took advantage of the mentors and management around me (yes, I sought it out - nothing was handed to me, and those who took the time were not taken for granted). Fast forward to now, I'm a top sales rep coaching others to be successful, and my prospects / customers WANT to talk to me - not only because I'm good at my job now but because our technology and services are helping them be successful. And that's worth a lot. Yes, there's still hunting (which I enjoy) but at least we're not hearing Rapid7 who? We're hearing, "I've heard you guy are doing great things over there, I'm willing to hear you out." And also to debunk another myth - I take over about 4 weeks of vacation, come in and leave when I want, and never feel guilty about it. I also go to the gym 3x/week during lunch and just work my sales calls around my personal schedule. Our management trusts we're adults and let us do what we want as long as we're doing our job. Just do your job. I'm writing this not because anyone asked me to, but because it frustrates me that people who are coming onto this website and looking at these reviews won't get the full picture. We value hard working, passionate people who are willing to put in the work and be coachable. That hasn't and will never change.

    Cons

Said growing pains: 1. Some shifts in direction, but I think we're on the right path now. I trust my leadership team, and I appreciate that they're willing to take risks, and also brave enough to re-steer the ship when needed. 2. Aging systems - We're currently in the processing of modernizing our systems and processes to align with our higher demand. But in the meantime, things have been a bit less efficient.

I have been working at Rapid7 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. Ummmmmmmmmm almost a year but still thinking

    Cons

    1. Unhealthy snacks 2. Aggressive management 3. Poor training - There is no ramp up time, you have to start getting deals within a month of your employment. They lure you in with fake pipeline. 4. 50 dials are necessary per day, they say it not necessary just to phish you in the job once you here YOU ARE DOOMED 5. Taking lunch outside is frowned upon they want you at your desk all the time with headset on. 6. Unlimited vacation - Ha its a joke you can't take more than a week, if you do you are on their radar especially in sales. 7. Managers are immature to the point it feels like high school 8. No work life balance - Red flag for me as I have a wife, kids and pet to take care, been here for almost a year but already looking for employment. People are dropping like flies. 9. No job security.
