    Pros

Flexible schedule nut in sure that's next on the chopping block.

    Cons

Just announced no company 401k matching...suspended. take a deduct per client and color service. How does that add up to do what's right or being a company about making their people happy? Wrong move.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting things out that make people want to work here. Also what happened to talking to us with respect. New "directors"are rude.

I worked at Ratner Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Offers 401k, health benefits (they weren't great) and paid time off. Newer stylists learn quickly due to the lack of training and being thrown right on the salon floor directly after finishing beauty school. Opportunities for advancement if you are willing to change locations and lose clients.

    Cons

Stylists cannot take appointments, terrible management including high management like district leader, regional leader, loss prevention person, etc. very shady management. If you do not kiss butts and do what they say you will be wrongfully terminated. They allow employees to come to work high, drunk, hungover, etc. no responsibilities. Employees come in late and call off work often and no accountability. As a stylist you cannot grow with this company unless you want to be cutthroat and manage. There aren't any successful stylists that are not managers. Education classes are very basic.

    Advice to Management

    Hire new management.

    Pros

Company was founded on great values. Opportunities for advancement and great compensation. Good benefits. Stylists were heard and helped develop the company. Great place for a beginner stylist to grow. Advanced education. New partnerships are creating innovative direction.

    Cons

Regional Leader is impulsive, unproffesional, and disrespectful of her direct reports. No life balance for leadership which discouraged strong candidates. Holiday hours changed without notice causing employees to cancel planned vacations. Stylists and Founder are loosing say in the direction the company is evolving.

    Advice to Management

Don't loose integrity. Make sure when evolving it is done with appreciation of your loyal associates and guests.

I have been working at Ratner Companies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked for this Organization for 29 years. It was my first job and I have been able to build my career from within! Our values and commitment to helping all our Salon Professionals earn a better living and live a better life is unheard of in any other organization. I plan to retire with this organization and can honestly say, I have never entertained the thought of leaving to pursue my career anywhere else!!

    Cons

I really dont have any Cons to list! IF you work hard and set your mind to do great things, set and achieve goals, then it all falls into place. At the end of the day, we need to be responsible for our actions and held accountable if not.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be the awesome Leaders you all are. The Leadership we have is amazing and we continue to learn and grow from each other and each situation we are faced with!

    Pros

Product discounts, CEU hours, bound opportunity.

    Cons

Zero consistency. The made up rules and approval of them by upper management is awful. Not paid for mandatory meetings, no lunch breaks, $$$ taken out of your check for re do's, not paid to clean, do banking, etc.

    Advice to Management

Trying to manage with instilling fear will keep your turnover rate just where it is. High. Extended training is needed all around.
