I have been working at Ratner Companies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Commission without cap, ability to grow, take advantage of free classes, learn sales, 50% off products, Christmas perk where you can buy electronics and pay thru paycheck for a year

    Cons

Benefits barely cover any medical expenses, compensation plan is subject to change every year, hard to keep steady paycheck, product sale quota that determines your commission instead of actual service dollars

    Advice to Management

Hardworking salon leaders on commission should not be expected to do everything the salary leaders do as they still have to make a paycheck and can't lose clients either

    Pros

Believe Dennis has a great vision and does care about the people.

    Cons

If you are not part of the "good ole boy" club forget ever promoting. It's all in who you know. Several upper management have been in place for way too long and promote their buddies. They pretend they care and want to hear you but they don't. They listen but don't hear. They have their plan and will stick to it. Integrity is one of the values which not many upper management has. They preach people peopl people but it really is numbers numbers numbers and if you don't produce get ready to be ridden like a horse and soon after gone. People are like crabs crawling all over each other trying to get to the top crapping on everyone and anyone. Upper management as in Regionals and Market leaders talk so much crap about each other behind backs and smile in your face. DLs are subjected to it and hear things they probably shouldn't. Continue to build a weak foundation of people who are placed in roles because they are buds and your house will crumble. Use to be flavor of the month tactics trying new things all the time and now that business isn't good they are back at trying flavor of the month tactics.... Which sends fear to stylist who are already not at a good place with comp plans changing every year. Lots of work and little reward.

    Advice to Management

Really have none as it won't be taken seriously. Just remember the stylist are the business.... Not ML/RL/TL. .... They are the ones sitting in their office 24/7 someone should look into what they really do. And do they really know what is going on in their business???

They TRY to make is about the people. They TRY to implement structure. All they do is TRY but nothing gets done.

NO ONE listens to you, especially your district leaders. They only care if you make them money. If not, they will try to get rid of you.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Good place to build clientele, continuing education opportunities

    Cons

Not truly 50%commission. Support staff turnover rate insane. Upper management unhelpful. Unorganized. Maintenance is slow. Hit a plateau, have to work 10 hour days, 6 days a week to continue to grow & increase checks.

    Advice to Management

Stop being lazy, be organized. Pay attention to staff before they quit

    Pros

Ratner company is very family oriented for the most part. They they care about giving a helping hand when needed.

    Cons

The pay for the stylists isn't the best. Management in the salon is to concerned with hurting feelings Instead of standing up for the dedicated employee.

    Advice to Management

Grow a backbone and stand up for the dedicated employee instead of the troublemakers.
