I have been working at Raytheon BBN Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    High caliber coworkers, interesting work

    Cons

Company email/RMail, EXIM, no sick time, erosion of benefits (All forced upon us by the corporate mothership)

    Advice to Management

Keep fighting to preserve (restore?) the BBN culture; many people still care about this company

I worked at Raytheon BBN Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Coming in just after BBN was bought, I was grandfathered into the true BBN experience, how close everybody was, seeing the president weekly and having honest conversations, general levity across all sites... At least the offices are for the most part the same and Raytheon is a decent company to work for in general: benefits, flexible hours, upwards mobility for those who are willing to step forward.

    Cons

It was almost impossible to hold the Raytheon bureaucracy off for too long. It was hard to watch such a generous benefits package from BBN deteriorate for what they once were, to what new hires were being offered.

    Advice to Management

Remain competitive and not just in Raytheon's image, HR was savvy on getting around certain things above board to keep things attractive for new folks. Also, when you say you have a mentoring program, USE IT!

I have been working at Raytheon BBN Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Really smart, good people and interesting work that matters. Great work life balance, decent benefits, although they used to be better.

    Cons

RTN has had a negative impact--more bureaucratic bs than ever before, more process, and rules that slow people down and annoy them, but it's still a way better place to work than most.

    Advice to Management

    Resist the borg!

I have been working at Raytheon BBN Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Work on challenging problems with smart people. Collegial and ethical work environment.

    Cons

Poor opportunities for advancement. The only way to get respect is to write winning proposals, and the deck is heavily stacked against you because BBN does nothing to discourage two departments bidding the same job.

    Advice to Management

Hold managers accountable for managing well, not just winning business.
