I have been working at Raytheon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

    Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!

    Advice to Management

Not all section managers (middle managers) are clued in with the senior leadership's goals. I met with many senior leaders and executives who supported diversity and employee resource groups. However, often times middle management was against employees putting their own volunteer time towards these efforts and looked down on it. This gap was a huge problem and really needs to be fixed!!

I have been working at Raytheon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stable company, diversity, growth. There are plenty of opportunities for growth if one is willing to relocate and or become an engineer.

    Cons

Stingy compensation packages, horrible onboarding process, to many disconnected team members.

    Advice to Management

Pay the people, not just the high level managers

    Pros

TheFlexibility is a big plus. The Personal time off is a great have. Many paid holidays are given each year

    Cons

Some management is very biased. Hard to grow within job. Have to be in the circle to be promotedor treated fairly in pay.

    Advice to Management

Check the integrity of upper management.

    Pros

It pays the bills. If you want to travel there is plenty of that available depending on the program that you are a part of.

    Cons

Poor management, doesn't pay adequately. There is no dwell time and you can be told to leave at the drop of a hat.

    Advice to Management

    Fix it.

    Pros

Benefits, RDO, Employee Training, Networking, Pay

    Cons

The only con I can say is that I am a contractor for the U.S Army employed by Raytheon, but that's not RayRay's fault

    Pros

    Flex time, Pay, Job Security.

I have been working at Raytheon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay/benefits is about the best you will see for a company of this size. Plenty of locations and big enough to find work if your current project runs out.

    Cons

A lot of bureaucracy makes it a little overwhelming sometimes.

I have been working at Raytheon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people, benefits, flexibility (flexible hours, PTO, etc.) , and amenities (gym on site with trainer, kitchens, cafeteria with good food, etc.) are great.

    Cons

The company is top heavy and seems to have a hard time promoting good, young talent. (A sentiment I've heard expressed by others here as well.)

    Advice to Management

There are a lot of opportunities elsewhere for young, talented folks with some experience under their belt. Perhaps try a little harder to retain those people.
