I worked at Razorfish full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to learn about digital marketing. Really strong accounts and awesome direct managers. A lot of room for upward mobility as well as working with different departments

    Cons

Upper management doesn't pay much attention to lower level employees. Not much team bonding activities. Top heavy company and not a ton of focus on media.

    Advice to Management

Better job of reaching out to junior employees. Foster a better sense of community and collaboration. Teach lower level employees other skills.

I worked at Razorfish as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The majority of people I worked with were really nice. No complains about the team, just didn't love the structure of the teams. A lot of higher up people that didn't seem to know what was going on and then a few project managers working around the clock.

We got free lunch everyday because it was the end of a huge project. There is also bagels on Mondays and the office is dog friendly.

It was laid back and no one checked in on me as to what time I got in (but that my also be because I didn't really have a boss or someone to report to.)

    Cons

It seems that 40% of people working here are contractors. Some people were only there for a week.

HR is not friendly of welcoming. On my first day no one really noticed me for about 4 hours. I didn't know where the bathroom was or who my boss was. It was terrible. The computer they gave me on the first day was so old and slow it couldn't even get on the internet.

    It's also at Pier 39.

    Advice to Management

Try to be more welcoming to people coming into your office, even if they will only be there for a short amount of time.

I have been working at Razorfish as a contractor

    Pros

    Looks great on your resume.
A very impressive list of clients.
Some co-workers who are passionate about what they do.
Some good and very helpful Creative Directors.
    Good pay.

    Cons

    Zero communication.
You will not know what project you are working on or when its due.
Creative directors skip meeting until client presentations and do a SHOCKINGLY poor job at them and zero research, making them unable to present your work properly or in context. Expect to deliver exactly what the client asked for and be told it is completely wrong.
They do no research and I even had one who didn't even know company X was a client, much less a project he was on.
NO feeling of community. Full-time employees ignore contractors. Nobody goes to company events.
Constant turnover for short and long-term contractor.
Execs who have no idea what is going on and rarely show up for work.
Project rates doubled or tripled constantly, making clients drop us constantly.
90% of employees are contractors with no job security.

    Advice to Management

    COMMUNICATE.
Stop hiring and then firing short-term contractors in rapid succession- YOU ARE NOT SAVING MONEY- just dragging out projects as new people waste time being onboarded.
RESPECT ciients instead of not caring about them as long as the check clears.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Varies from project to project and depends on phase of project, but many (most?) folks enjoy reasonable work-life balance (i.e. 40-50hr weeks)
Generous benefits (health, paid leave etc...), and flexible work schedule (e.g. come in late if you need to, leave early if you need to, work from home when it makes sense)
Relatively flat, values team work and competence/self-management over very hands-on management
Very strong on process (templates, playbooks, trainings/onboardings, discipline leads who know what they're doing) with really experienced hands to step in when things are going wrong

    Cons

Not very strong on native mobile
Tends to work with big, risk-averse clients / few opportunities to really push the envelope
Not very sexy in-office perks (though pleasant office atmosphere overall), although going home to family trumps perks for many folks who work here

I have been working at Razorfish full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

culture is fun- lots of happy hours, group activities and young people in general.Co workers are whats kept me here for 4+ years and there is a great view of the water from most desks as we're located right on pier 39.

    Cons

The San Francisco office is decreasing in size due to shifts within the Publicis family. Upper management doesn't look out for their individual employees but rather just the company as a whole.
