    Negative Outlook

I worked at Reading Area Community College full-time

    Pros

Low cost college degree, most employees really like their job and feel they are doing good for students. Serious students do very well.

    Cons

Very negative environment, departments are run (with a few exceptions) very poorly, money is spent on frivolous things but the important items are left to rot. Student and employee turnover is very high.

    Advice to Management

Watch where you spend your money, and who is spending it. It doesnt seem that the business office controls any of that. I believe the business manager position turns over quickly.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, professionally challenging, motivated students

    Cons

The administration is changing all the time; there is no vision for future development; there is little respect to faculty; recently, the morale and overall environment are getting worse, making the college an unpleasant work environment.

    Advice to Management

Have a long-term plan for sustainability and development and trust the faculty's expertise.

I have been working at Reading Area Community College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits medical, dental benefits. Paid time off. Leadership like no other. Looking forward to continued changes.

    Cons

Some people have a sense of entitlement and fail to appreciate the small things. Change is good but everyone must buy into new changes. Better communication across not just small division silos.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

There is a sense of comradorie amongst each department. There is a closer connection to the students that we work with. Pressure to perform is no more than one atmosphere.

    Cons

There is a lot of maneuvering around red tape if you want to make changes in the way things are done.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your underlings more genuinely. Look into the student body for untapped talent.
