    Positive Outlook

I have been working at RealScout full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun and relaxed culture, free food/drinks and a flexible vacation policy. No egos here, which is a very rare thing. Everyone is genuinely invested in making this company great.

    Cons

Very fast-paced as is the case with most startups. There have been some growing pains simply because of the rate at which the company has been growing over the last few months, but things are definitely stabilizing. Really looking forward to this next year.

I have been working at RealScout full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Excellent benefits. - Unlimited food, snacks, coffee and beer on hand! - Fun out of office culture events to help encourage team building amongst the diverse group. - Very competitive compensation for an early stage start up.

    Cons

    - Employees lack a safe outlet to confront company related issues due to a lack of HR presence internally primarily because of inexperience and inter office relations between managers. - Employees work long hours and come close to sleeping in the office on a regular basis, which is expected amongst a passionate group of individuals working at an early stage start up. Unfortunately, if you are unwilling to make... this a regular part of your lifestyle you may be deemed a "poor culture fit," which has lead to termination for several employees. This company is not family friendly or respectful of employee's work/life balance. - Extremely high turnover rate on the sales team (AEs get approximately six weeks with little to no training to hit quota before being terminated). - Constant issues with payroll during growth period (checks regularly over/under). The company does have a new CFO so those issues should clear for good in the very near future.

    Advice to Management

Think bigger picture in terms of growth and how the product can be sold to the masses and not just here or there; The product is unique and valuable. Your company will not survive nation wide with an emotionally immature team of managers. The company needs executives with real life experience to help train the younger managers for their positions. The lack of an HR presence is a major and potentially fatal... flaw for RealScout. Employees should feel safe in voicing HR concerns and not have to worry that their thoughts or opinions will be shared instantly with others in the company. The current HR presence in the office exemplifies the maturity of a high school student and serious HR issues regularly become he-said, she-said problems involving the entire office. Professionalism is seriously lacking in this area.

    I worked at RealScout

    Pros

Unlimited drinks and snacks Solid product Competitive compensation Office dog!

    Cons

Immature leadership (rash decision making, won't consider the ideas of others) "Fun" culture inhibits professionalism in the office (cliques, extreme favoritism) Inappropriate office relationships and interactions with no repercussions Lack of career opportunities with no option of growth Unrealistic expectations paired with poor training for employees (the employees are always the one blamed)

    Advice to Management

Tip: Reread Delivering Happiness because this culture you all preach so hard is not there. Instead of being focused on poaching talent, why not invest in proper training for your employees to allow them to actually be successful at their job, instead of firing them when they are unable to perform to your ridiculous expectations? Something needs to be done about the extreme favoritism that is blatantly obvious in the... dynamics of the office which is due to the unreliable accountability of leadership. This is an awesome product, but if there aren't some drastic changes within this company someone else is going to come in an do it better.

I have been working at RealScout full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Unlimited drinks and snacks, Competitive compensation, Solid product, Fun start up environment.

    Cons

Immature leadership team aka "Fab 5" (cliques, favoritism, and unprofessional behavior) Inappropriate office romances and interactions that supersede any other employees opinions. Zero accountability from leadership team when concerns are brought to their attention. (kill the messenger, rather than address the concern at hand) Poach top talent into organization then treat them poorly. Unrealistic expectations... paired with arrogant leadership and little respect for employees. (the employees are expendable) Intimidation is a best practice. Flat v. Hierarchical. (not sure they know the difference) Opaque transparency. (only what leadership wants you to know) "Growth" happens when no one else wants to peruse the role. VC's are clueless to the leadership teams inexperience and unwillingness to remove anyone from the leadership team itself.

    Advice to Management

Tip: Stop hiring only your friends into the work environment, the company will go a lot further if people do not follow the herd like sheep and actually disagree. Foster innovation within the organization to ensure that RealScout continues to be ahead of competitors. The "culture" that you are trying to build has fallen flat to reality, address what is really making employees feel like each day is their last.

I worked at RealScout full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Unlimited food/beverages in office. Great benefits. Fun start up culture. Above average compensation.

    Cons

Inexperienced leadership. Lack of professionalism within the office (cliques, upper management inner relations). Rapid decision making without thought of consequences. Lack of growth strategy and sustainability. Extremely high turn over rate.

    Advice to Management

Give more thought as to whom you want to hire. Invest in your employees (better training, more experienced leadership etc...). Be more transparent about expectations and where the company stands.
