    Pros

A great place to cut your teeth as a developer and work on a lot of projects

    Cons

Pay is low for younger employees, and doesn't necessarily grow w/ experience. Cut your teeth and look for higher pay elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Work on keeping younger talent on board

I worked at RealTick full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun teams to work on; professional mentors that will shape employees into future star players. A great place to hone your skills and then jump ship for higher pay.

    Cons

No money; frequent turnover of parent-companies. The company is sold an average of every 1.3 years. Former parent-companies are Lehman Brothers, Barclays, ConvergEx, and Eze Castle (soon). Raises are few and far-between. Frequent turnover means different benefits, different annual-review policies, and different raise/bonus structures. Note: different does not mean better.

    Advice to Management

Show your star players the money. Aside from that, stop holding onto dinosaurs and dead-weight.

    Cons

Most of employees are working there for long time, not real growth opportunity

    Advice to Management

Create better carrier path for employees

    I worked at RealTick full-time

    Pros

Free food on Fridays, lots of opportunities to get involved

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance, new management cares very little about employees as people, you are what you contribute. Although, contribution has more to do with perception than reality. Some senior managers view their own team members contributions higher than others -- your success is very much determined by who your manager is.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees, respect them and get to know them. Acknowledge your own limitations when it comes to how employees are performing and get more feedback from those "in the trenches".

I worked at RealTick full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free food every Friday, no pros other than that

    Cons

Management sucks, micro management, not real managers. Promoted bcos they stuck to the company for many years

    Advice to Management

    Hire real managers

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Salary are not the market's lowest (yet).
Long-timers possess enormous market knowledge and experience.
Great place for suck-ups and friends of friends.

    Cons

Stop thinking about advancement unless your name is... or you are their friends.
Since Townsend sold us - the company mom-and-pop culture is going down...
While revenue is going up, our salaries are going down too...
But salaries don't mean all, if most of the employees would make this place enjoyable to work....
To work here - think about Prozac to keep you happy because high-school thinking and close-mindedness will make you miserable in about 6 months... that's how long new employees discover the truth
Layoffs to boost bottom line (thats how I got a slip)

    Advice to Management

You have so much work ahead of you in terms of human relations and professional management because being promoted from within ranks don't make you automatically great managers and inspirational leaders you all think you are

    Pros

Great people, nice culture, moves at a fast pace. Good product that existing clients like a lot. Good team environment.

    Cons

changes management often; a lot of uncertainty at the moment; Product is the jack of all trades, but the master of none.

    Advice to Management

settle down and create jobs with upward movement
