      toxic working environment

      Pros

      - commission, but must be sales driven and depends on your luck

      Cons

      - low pay with high expectations - degree holders with low hourly salary - management will only treat you well if you hit the sales target - some of the staffs are very two-faced - heard they will not pay you on months you didn’t hit the target - you have to spend days and nights, including the weekend worrying about your sales, and constantly anxious whether you’ll hit the target

Increasingly demoralized morale with each passing day

      Mar 6, 2013 -

      Pros

very team-based, communication in team is very necessary, boss is like a friend to you, good place for increasing your communication skills and PR skills. Incentives are very attractive.

      Cons

      - Likely to succumb under pressure due to high sales targets to meet weekly. - Not much positive endorsement/enactment from higher management even if you hit target. The lack of encouragement for temp-to-perm staff results in a high employee turnover rate. - If you are not a confirmed staff, there is ZERO benefits and your welfare+health is of no concern to them. - You will find yourself feeling very demoralized with each passing week because the candidates working under you tend not to last long, and you are constantly on a "finding-replacements" cycle that sucks up your after-work-hours. - You will find yourself telling white lies against your conscience to hit your sales target (signing contracts) E.g. A candidate comes to R.E in search of a admin job, but as there is no current availability, you find yourself "sweet-talking" him/her into taking up another job. i.e. cashier/service crew. just to hit your "minimum 3 contracts a day" quota. - Do not even think of leaving work on time if you do not hit the certain quota for the day. - I'm not sure about other recruitment firms. In this era,is it the norm to have 6 to 8 people sharing ONE computer? An excessive amount of redundant time is spent standing and waiting around for your colleague to finish posting ads/writing resumes/printing contracts BEFORE you can finally sit down to do your work.

Company that only look at sales figures

      Pros

Dynamic environment, and mostly nice colleagues who can treat you well. Basic salary matches fresh graduates average, and also commission based. If you are able to hit the sales target, commission will be very attractive. Employee benefits are quite good if you are a confirmed staff.

      Cons

Highly stressful environment. Have to be very fast in filling/hitting sales figures, otherwise CEO will 'target' you during the weekly meetings. Daily debrief is after official working hours, everyone tends to stay late and if you are new, don't think of going back home early. There is no work life balance most of the time as you are expected to report to work on Saturdays as well. Not easy to get confirmed as you need to be consistent in hitting your sales target for a few months. (Colleague only got confirmed after 1 year of probation)

      Pros

Team members are nice and colleagues are generally kind

      Cons

Quite cut throat if you don't meet the sales target, must be open and willing to communicate with colleagues very actively

Terrible.. Where do I even start?

      Pros

      - Decent pay & commission - Good location

      Cons

      - Forces you to lie about jobs. You'll be posting ads about banking/white-collar jobs, but eventually have to talk your way to make candidates take up flyer distribution/sales job. - Ridiculous quotas, even if met, will be forced to do more and more and more - Treat candidates like a commodity, don't care about their interest, just care about sales target - Head boss loves to overstep the professional relationship boundary with ladies. Will cheekily ask you out for lunch dates. If you do not suck up to him, forget about any promotions - 3 people share one computer and one e-mail address - Very hierarchical. You take a cut of your intern's pay, your Director takes a cut of your pay, then the owner takes a cut of your pay. Leaving the actual candidate with almost 40% of his pay gone - Expect you to stay in office till late. If you even dare to step out of the office before 6pm it's GG for you the next day, the bitching will begin - The environment is so political. It's straight out from the set of Mean Girls. Everyone is bitching and stealing candidates from one another and when confronted about it, will plaster on a fake smile denying any involvement - Weekly meetings with the director are like throwing two lions into a pit. Director will play one person off another - Nearly once a month will have team bonding events which further shows how hypocritical the environment is. No one actually likes one another. I strongly advise against joining this company, especially the Ngee Ann City outlet. If you have any semblance of morality, you'll find this job hell. I joined HR because I wanted to help people get jobs they like and interact with candidates, but instead was told to lie about the job scope, pay and even company to get them down for an interview. Even if you argue that this is the real world, people should accept this highly unethical work environment. Sickening.

      Pros

You get to work with people from other divisions and broaden up your network. Able to earn a lot if you manage to get more candidates for the positions you have

      Cons

Fast-paced and stressful environment as it is sales-based and when you do not hit the sales target set monthly. A lot of times, it is dependent on the quality of candidates which you have that determines whether you can meet your sales target
