    Growing company with many opportunities. Strong products that meet the needs of many potential customers.

    Cons

    If you come from a large, established company you might feel that Red Hat is still growing and learning to put processes together that would help in getting your job done. This also gives you lots of room to innovate and to the environment.

    I worked at Red Hat as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Smart people
    - Neat events once in a while with free swag
    - Post office on site
    - Good downtown location
    - People often work from home
    - Each department has its own culture
    - CEO seems a cool guy
    - Any project you fight for can essentially become yours

    Cons

    - Socialization can be superficial
    - Very disorganized processes
    - Over reliant on third party technology
    - Can encounter takers or fakers under high stress
    - Contractors do feel like a separate strata
    - Some things are done manually
    - Open source products and acquihires are poorly or slowly integrated
    - Entry level hiring can be about who you know instead of what you know

    Advice to Management

    - Penalize takers and fakers in a way their behavior improves
    - Praise workers for their effort, to avoid having them socialize for visibility

    Pros

    Energetic and fast moving. Lots of opportunity for growing yourself and for working with great people. Not going to be bored.

    Cons

    Growing pains as the company tries to scale. Many things happening quickly that need to get done. Sometimes not clear what this means.

    Pros

    Open work environment and very friendly people. Lots of activities for new interns and lots of socializing happening.

    Cons

    A lot of work is given to interns which seems good at the beginning but they are very slow in converting the internship to a full time position.
