I have been working at Red and White Fleet

    Pros

    - Great place to meet diversified people from many different backgrounds and countries. - relatively easy and straight forward tasks.

    Cons

    - Old school business, lack of innovation. The same business model was kept for decades, the size of company was negatively growing. Long-term employees had a little chance to pursue for higher salaries and positions. - lack of communication between departments as well as between lower levels and management levels. - Managers seem to have minimum knowledge on the essential day to day duties. - Due the fact that managers...

I worked at Red and White Fleet

    Pros

    - Positions pay well; the lowest paid position is significantly higher than minimum wage (prior to the CA mandated minimum wage increase). Half of the positions are unionized and pay for those positions relative to job duties is extremely cushy. - Hardworking, diligent, and professionally-mannered people are recognized for their efforts, via reward and recognition programs and/or opportunities for promotion. - Office...

    Cons

    - Work/life balance is a challenge. A best estimate is that 25% or less of the staff feel they have a life outside of work. The location is part of the problem, in that the commute is generally over an hour no matter what the starting point is in the Bay Area or the method of transportation (traffic for cars is a nightmare and public transit options are poor). For salaried employees, hour lunches are a mandatory part...

    Advice to Management

    - Work from the bottom up instead of from the top down by enforcing policies uniformly across all employees in all departments. Do not begin work on new ideas or projects until a consistent work culture environment is cultivated cross-departmentally among all front line staff and all managers uphold policies as a unit. - A strict uniform policy only works if the company provides ALL necessary garments in proper sizes...

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Red and White Fleet

    Pros

Meeting new people (tourist environment) - Free boat rides - Easy to slack off due to incompetent, untrained, unreliable, disorganized, un-qualified management - easy to move up in company if you kiss the right butt - verifiable work experience not needed, they hire anyone who is willing to stroke their egos

    Cons

    - inexperienced management, if you are friends and kiss butt you will possibly move up - favoritism - promotions given to those who 'fit in' with management - most workers have college degrees but are paid 50 cents more than minimum wage - scheduling terribly handled - old and dirty uniforms - no benefits - No advancement - Only work here if this is the absolute last resort. There are plenty other jobs at Fisherman's...

    Advice to Management

Give higher positions to people that are actually qualified and trained to do it. Maybe that will solve the issues the company has with employees stealing money and booze and lying.
