If you hate driving - def RECONSIDER
Feb 9, 2022 - Associate Agent in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible hours, you can work as much as you want IF the demand is high. (Winter slows down) . Good support team (tour coordinators make your job easier)
Cons
The amount of gas you’ll spend is ridiculous, on top of paying tolls. (You’ll need to take the toll most of the time), at times clients will no-show which is frustrating. The pay sometimes isn’t worth the amt of gas you use and time you spend with one appt. Sometimes youll have an hr commute (x 2 to drive back) and spend 30 min more or less with a client… that’s 2.5 hours for $25 on avg

Good place for rookies to learn the basics. That’s about it.

Make your own schedule and you can put how far you’re willing to drive for tours.
Cons
Pay isn’t great considering all the wear and tear on your vehicle/gas being so expensive. The lead agents will try to take advantage of you. You do most of the work while the lead agents make most of the money.

Workaholic Fear Based Culture
Apr 26, 2020 - Agent in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great technology, app, website, internal client management system with many aids to held expedite communication with clients and streamline work processes. Constant stream of leads with highly qualified clients, steady income, benefits, reimbursements, nice co-workers, many great managers, generous with annual convention for agents with amazing entertainment, food, etc. Good amount of experience and immediate management support for assistance. CEO truly is a visionary, funny, and seems genuine.
Cons
Triple the normal work load for non commensurate pay. Told to think of this as 'any other job' to justify ok pay for highly stressful work. Laid off 40% of all employees after told initially would be given a guaranteed salary, while sheltering at home, When deemed essential, told we needed to get back to work and needed to meet with clients in person without offering PPE and told to figure it out. Other option was furlough with minimal pay and no guarantee would come back without ability to switch license. Agents that continued to meet with clients at person did so in fear of being 'laid off'. Management wanted you to 'open up' your schedule to 'available' all day , every day for last minute appointments starting from 8am to 8pm. Average closing rate was 10% for company so spent lots of time working with sometimes very demanding and difficult clients that were not actually going to buy and you had to work with everyone you were assigned to. Pretty much on call all the time and driving constantly. Must be on emails and phone constantly because of very high amount of communications and requests sent with immediate response required. Lots of rules and constantly told what you're doing wrong. Take clients word over agents. Constantly told 'Redfin is not for everyone' and top management in San Diego dictated a highly stressful, demanding, workaholic environment. Agents experienced bullying and overly angry and aggressive style by a particular manager and many agents had to switch team leaders with no accountability or recourse for that manager. Last annual survey completed showed agents felt overworked, underpaid, undervalued with no work life balance. New committees were formed to address these issues and nothing was done. Still same environment. When Redfin did big layoff, in April, top agents were furloughed or laid off and existing escrows/clients were given away to remaining agents with very little or no pay to departing agents.

AA Position is a great way to stay involved in Real Estate while maintaining other work
Apr 3, 2019 - Associate AgentRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible schedule, work when you want
Cons
AA's are not compensated for mileage, so there's not much incentive to pick up a tour in an area not near your work or home. Per-event compensation in 'alternative markets' is low and does not help incentivize lack of mileage pay. Generally no payment for appointment cancellations, even though there's a lot of work we have to do behind the scenes to schedule and prepare for the appointment.

Pros
Great flexibility. Can open or close calendar at anytime. Can choose which areas to cover/service. Easy and low stress job.
Cons
No benefits as an independent contractor. Low pay if the market is not hot and not many buyers are touring homes. Not much income stability.

Great company, not so great compensation
Jul 13, 2021 - Tour CoordinatorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Redfin is great at making you feel comfortable and supported. They have amazing PTO. Sick leave is always available. The environment is one of the healthiest I've ever worked in. And management really supports its employees.
Cons
I don't make enough. The starting pay in my position is $18. That was okay when I was part time. But being full time I have more responsibility and a pay increase would be nice.

Flexible schedule with decent pay
May 21, 2022 - Associate Agent in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible schedule that allows you to open or close your schedule whenever you want as long pending no tours are assigned to you. Tours are usually only 15-20 minutes per home and are low stress. Any question that's not related to the tour can be passed along to their lead agent, so when you finish that tour you're done and there's nothing else to think about. Pay can be good depending on drive time it takes you to get to the home you're touring.
Cons
No benefits, but that's not expected since you're an independent contractor. It can take longer to drive to the home than the tour itself depending on how large of an area you decide to cover. No guarantee of tours or other events. People may no show or text you last minute to cancel after you've already arrived to the home for the tour. CancelCancelCancel pay is only $25 (in the Austin market) which is better than nothing
