Waste of your real estate license

Jobs ("events") are handed to you; there is no lead generation. Lots of processes are online and automatic.
Cons
Event scheduling is at the whim of others and the market; no control over the volume of work you get. Events can be taken from you and there is a distinct aire of favoritism regarding scheduling. Seniority plays a role, so new hires who try to do this as full-time job can have hard time making enough income. Your location is not taken into consideration so you will travel miles/hours to get to jobs (with no travel compensation). Communication is minimal; no team atmosphere. Automation fosters laziness and lack of skills; deals often out-maneuvered. Undertrained management.

Good place for rookies to learn the basics. That’s about it.

Make your own schedule and you can put how far you’re willing to drive for tours.
Cons
Pay isn’t great considering all the wear and tear on your vehicle/gas being so expensive. The lead agents will try to take advantage of you. You do most of the work while the lead agents make most of the money.

Nov 24, 2021 - Real Estate Agent in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get experience at a look into the real estate world and have the ability to set your own schedule
Cons
As an associate agent you are not a "real" part of the Redfin team or culture. So it can be a difficult culture to deal with. You are a contractor BUT you are suppose to appear to be part of the team but ultimately...you have no representation and are at the mercy of other people's agendas and wills.

Flexible schedule with decent pay
May 21, 2022 - Associate Agent in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible schedule that allows you to open or close your schedule whenever you want as long pending no tours are assigned to you. Tours are usually only 15-20 minutes per home and are low stress. Any question that's not related to the tour can be passed along to their lead agent, so when you finish that tour you're done and there's nothing else to think about. Pay can be good depending on drive time it takes you to get to the home you're touring.
Cons
No benefits, but that's not expected since you're an independent contractor. It can take longer to drive to the home than the tour itself depending on how large of an area you decide to cover. No guarantee of tours or other events. People may no show or text you last minute to cancel after you've already arrived to the home for the tour. Cancel pay is only $25 (in the Austin market) which is better than nothing
