I have been working at ReedGroup full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have worked at ReedGroup full-time for over 3 years. The company has suffered substantial growing pains but recent changes in Executive Leadership is starting to show. I've noticed this industry attracts those with great expectations of a company but not the same great expectations of themselves. This is truly a company where if you work hard and apply yourself you will have opportunities. However, if you expect to be handed your dream job without working for it, you're in the wrong place. Some of the pros
Many great people to work with
    Nice work space
Encourages promotion from within for many roles
    Median salaries
    Opportunities for growth
Working in an industry geared to helping people

    Cons

Many first line managers are not well suited to the position and have received no training. Almost all of them were promoted from the floor and really do not have the skills for the job. Many of them are petty and demeaning. Insurance options are costly and not great. There is a lack of respect for everyone's time, many people are late or no-shows for meetings. Employee satisfaction is directly related to who you work for because of a lack of consistency across managers and teams. I have noticed that many of these first line managers do play favorites, which is completely unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

There is great potential here. You have some great staff. You must get your IT organization in line. You've heard the frustrations of clients and employees at the lack of responsiveness and capabilities. Poor decisions around implementing a self-service portal that was not ready for prime time has frustrated many clients and added work for customer service staff. If you choose to promote internally for first line leadership invest in training them. Leadership is not management and your first line managers don't understand this. This is the real reason for you high turnover rate in the Customer Service organization. Make sure you have the capacity to deliver before you sales staff goes out and promises things that cannot be done. This business has been stripped down to the bone by previous leadership, you must revive the staff and they will help you revive the business.

    Pros

I enjoy working with the employees. Helping people is my strength and I can do this in this job.

    Advice to Management

Morale is down due to the favoritism and attrition.

I have been working at ReedGroup full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I really enjoy working here - my colleagues are supportive. There is a lot of opportunity to take on new projects and make a difference. This is one of the best places I've worked.

    Cons

There has been a lot of change recently (new CEO and many new upper-level managers) and some people don't like that. But I see the changes as people positive.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to more clearly share and promote the company's mission-- we're doing incredible work here, positively affecting people's lives!! But people don't know about ReedGroup - we need to promote ourselves better!
