    Pros

Flexible. Free movies. Great supervisor who serves as a mentor. Great co-workers and great employees. Constant changes keeps things fresh and different. This particular theatre is beautiful, current and well kept.

    Cons

    Working holidays can be tough.

Although the constant changes keep things fresh it can also be difficult to keep up with all of them as well.

    Advice to Management

Having worked at multiple theatres for a variety of supervisors, I wish there was more constancy among them all.

I have been working at Regal Entertainment part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy job. Free movie tickets. Half price concessions. Staff is very friendly and feels like a dysfunctional family half of the time!

    Cons

Expensive to come watch a movie with your family. Concessions are outrageously high for a blue collar town with a high elderly population.

I have been working at Regal Entertainment part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The flexibility of working a job where you can choose either a.m. or p.m. hours greatly helps a work/life balance.

    Cons

Working long night time hours can adversely affect your internal clock and other responsibilities.

    Limited career path.

Almost no incentives for part time managers. There are many for full time managers and for regular employees.

No corporate guidance on the day to day development of leadership.

    Advice to Management

The corporate postings mostly require employees to move to Tennessee to pursue a route that does not include day to day operations management. I believe that in offering employees the option to work in an office locally, but report back to Tennessee as their superiors would increase the fulfillment of those roles and offer diversity in career paths.

Having worked for other companies has exemplified the weakness of provided training by REG. There is no standardized focused on the skills that should be cultivated my management. While there is a standardized several hundred page operations manual; all companies have this. I do not believe training ends with training videos. Investing in management training development books, where they are required to meet with upper management on periodic basis to review their progress in certain skills would be refreshing. It should be a requirement to be fulfilled by any level above cast member. The skills asked to be learned should be pertinent to the next position. The information should be available to all so employees can cultivate these skills prior to seeking position.

There is little incentive or benefits for part time managers. There is a system in place for both benefits and recognition of regular cast members. Employee of the Month and a card recognition program. Full time managers see a slew of benefits from vacation time, to personal time, to health benefits, to increased pass privileges. Part time managers have only the benefit of the same pass privileges as regular employees and the same employee discount as regular employees. While health benefits are federally mandated for full time employees, I feel as though the extra added benefits for solely full time managers in other areas leaves the part time managers in a thankless position. In a position where the only difference is not the level of work nor dedication, but may be simply that they work 10 hrs less a week on average; this is a glaring need for change.

    Pros

Easy job, good employee benefits and discounts, good atmosphere, easy to learn. The movie business is dying so it is generally slow.

    Cons

Customers are ridiculously rude and obnoxious. Corporate decisions often seem random. Can't care too much and it's best to just shake it off.
