I have been working at Regan Campbell Ward full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people for the most part. My department is well-known as a good place for new editors to get their feet wet.

    Cons

Losing business bacause digital needs work, as well as some account execs who seem clueless and/or don't seem to get much done. Hours can be long, generally because of the disregard of some people here for other people's time. There doesn't seem to be much room to advance in house.

    Advice to Management

Do something about digital. Shake up the Account Execs and perhaps have some creative people at the San Diego audience so they can interact with West Coast clients in person rather than just the AEs handling it. Other people's time is valuable not just the VPs so don't lave people hanging around needlessly.

    Pros

Small company allows exposure to upper management, no rules allow you to do whatever you want

    Cons

No process in place, outsources digital work to a partner agency, all partners left the company leaving no culture, no future, and clueless power hungry managers to do whatever they want

    Advice to Management

Close down the company, can't compete with other agencies who have their act together, no talent worth working for or with

I have been working at Regan Campbell Ward full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is probably only one acct manager that you can learn from. Other than that it's status quo the location is convenient .

    Cons

There are so many cons... The former owner probably got lucky and sold wasn't too sharp. The new president has no idea what is going on. There is probably one vp that's very respected other managers aren't in relationships/families so they have no clue other than to work like a dog and make everyone else stay and work ridiculous amount of hours

    Advice to Management

This place will be in trouble if they lose one or two smart people and or accts mcann will have to fire the new pres or shut the office down

    Pros

Lots of drinking and parties, dinners, car service, meal expenses. People can be friendly. Family-like atmosphere.

    Cons

Politics dominates the scene. The best and hardest working employees are squeezed out by the mid-senior managers in power. Bad workflow. Few people actually do the work correctly. Many show-boaters, few implementors. Many computer illiterate workers, cannot embrace new methods. People who know the least talk the most. The bind lead the blind. Clueless VPs and directors keep hiring more of the same. Company does not invest in infrastructure. McCann has them on a short leash.

    Advice to Management

Management should get a new HR director, hire more competent people, clean out show-boaters and middle management.

I worked at Regan Campbell Ward full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to gain some experience and put a recognizable name on your resume.
People are generally friendly, big family atmosphere but if you aren't in the main 'group' you feel left out.

    Cons

Very long hours, expect to work late nights and occasionally weekends.

Extremely political management. Nepotism is prevalent and under-qualified family members were given promotions frequently.

Account persons are 'yes men' and will do anything for the client; often resulting in unrealistic deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to letting people earn their way up, rather than giving handouts to family and their friends.

    Pros

It's a group of smart and funny people who know how to come together to get the job done. A good healthy mix of rookies and well-seasoned ad people. Creativity is fostered, and people are held accountable for their work. If you do well, you get rewarded. If you don't, you'll probably hear about it. Everyone is trying to do the best possible job, it's a fast-paced agency that is a good fit if you're hungry. Because it can be stressful at times, you have to have a sense of humor. It's nice to work with people who are trying just as hard as you.

    Cons

It's advertising, so there are always deadlines to meet, which inevitably leads to late nights and stress, but I think that is a symptom of the industry, not the company. The quality of work is top notch, and they seem to have a balanced turnover rate of employees. Everyone keeps their emotions on their sleeves, so big drama is usually avoided by getting the frustrations out when they happen, instead of stewing over it. It is not uncommon to work a 60 hour week, but meals are comped and you might get car service home, so it sort of makes up for it.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.
