I have been working at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Friendly coworkers. There's almost no inner office politics.
    2. Supportive boss.
    3. Clear line of advancement opportunities.
    4. Very generous benefits package.
    5. Two days of working from home available.

    Cons

During the slower time of the year, it can be difficult to fill your day with meaningful work.

Office space is old and out-of-date.

    Advice to Management

Invest in upgrading the workplace for the benefit of your hardworking employees.

I worked at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They care about their customers and employees. They have great health programs and incentives to live healthier. They like to see you advance and have programs set in place to help you further your career.

    Cons

It is a not for profit company and funds are watched carefully, this has caused several lay offs in the past few years. It is also harder to get benefits such as tuition reimbursement as those funds are very limited.

    Advice to Management

Watch your numbers, the lay offs are quite numerous for a company this size

    Pros

Great benefits, intelligent individuals in management that actually listen to front line employee feedback, progressive company, customer and employee focused, very ethical and goal focused.

    Cons

Working in the healthcare market within the current political climate is difficult.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work, but make sure to listen to your employees and customers. They have some great ideas to keep your company customer and market-focused.

    Pros

If you are looking for a customer service or claims processing job, Regence still has good opportunities in Utah.

    Cons

Regence is continuing to have periodic layoffs, due to decline in revenues as employers choose to reduce or cut health insurance benefits for their employees. There are still some professional opportunities within Regence, but most of the good jobs are moving to Portland, OR or Seattle, WA.

    Pros

The majority of employees really care about the work they do and the people they are trying to serve.

    Cons

Leadership turnover was disruptive and discoraging. Those that were out of state and out of touch with the real situation seem to make the most impactful decsions.

    Advice to Management

You're letting too much talent go in order to blindly stick to decisions made off-site by those out of touch.
