    Business Outlook

    Pros

Competitive pay, benefits, friendly team atmosphere, free food

    Cons

For a company that strives to be the best for its employees and patients, and gloats about a “work life balance” management had a difficult time accommodating a shift change request for personal and medical reasons, even with documentation to support. Instead they will throw more money at you to sign a severance agreement, and HR will not respond to any questions you have. Even though this was a scheduling conflict and not a quality or data breach, the company has since blocked applications to associated affiliations.

Great Place to Work, Maybe Even the Best... by Pre-Pandemic Standards

    May 21, 2022 - Biotech Production Specialist
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good benefits, facilities, office spaces and competitive pay. Casual work environment with no dress code aside from safety-related equipment when working in the labs. In addition the company is involved in every stage of the drug development process so there are a lot of opportunities available for people with a wide variety of skill sets and expertise, including STEM but not exclusively in the sciences. The all-in-house approach also means that Regeneron stands at the cutting edge of the industry and often involved in fighting diseases that are in the news, from Ebola to COVID-19. I have said before and do believe that working here I'm doing something that I can be proud of.

    Cons

The company culture can vary wildly between departments, for better or worse. I've worked in departments that were wonderful and supportive and fostered a great sense of comradery, and other departments where office politics are inescapable and advancement is determined more by popularity than merit. The other big con, maybe bigger depending on the department, is the lack of flexibility with working from home. Since 2021 the company has been trying hard to roll back the flexible arrangement they created to combat the pandemic; bringing everyone back to site more or less full time regardless of need and despite the fact that the pandemic proved that essentially all roles in the company could be done completely remotely. Complaints about this senseless, pointless and unpopular "return to normal" are dismissed by management and the senior leadership team. To argue their case they repeat endlessly the same platitudes about "fostering an office culture" and "spontaneous hallway conversations", or whatever else they can think of that is entirely qualitative and therefore cannot be refuted with any hard evidence. This insistence on doing away with the only positive things that came out of the pandemic for the sake of pretending it never happened has already lost the company some talented people, and unfortunately that might need to happen to convince management to get with the times.

Great First Job - Toxic Work Environment

Sep 13, 2022 - Senior Lead Biotech Production Specialist
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great benefits, great first job, great pay

    Cons

Work/Life balance is encouraged per HR but not enforced. Not a sustainable place to work long term. Promotions aren't based on experience, they are based on who are you friends with.

Highly paid entry into the industry, but get out as soon as you have enough experience.

    May 31, 2022 - Biotech Production Specialist

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Very high salary if working 24/7 shifts, particularly if you’re a fresh graduate. Will accept graduates with little or no experience, giving an opportunity to get a foot in the door for the pharmaceutical industry. The site itself is very easily accessible from local areas and beyond.

    Cons

The shift pattern will leave you exhausted almost all the time. Anyone above the level of “Lead” seems to have a serious authority complex and will take any opportunity to flex their power. This company has a significant problem with pointing out problems and errors, no matter how small or insignificant, whilst providing no input in the way of solutions or ways to fix them. Have no problem treating the employees poorly because they know they can easily replace them with local college graduates and continue the cycle. This itself leads to further problems with almost all the work force being very inexperienced.
