I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

Science really does drive the company culture. Good work-life balance if you make it. Nice every day perks. Lots of growth over all and exciting prospects.

    Cons

The company has had explosive growth in the last few years. Lots of new hires and promotions, especially to management level positions. However, it doesn't seem like managers get appropriate or adequate training in how to actually manage a team. A good scientist doesn't always make a good manager. Favoritism is rampant in my department and people aren't used to their full potential.

Another problem with the growth is that we are desperately trying to keep a "startup" culture and flat management structure. That isn't practical when there are more associate directors than people doing the work...

The extreme focus on science can lead to deficiencies in other teams, such as HR, legal, IT, ect. Another review mentioned ineffective HR, and that has also been my experience. We are a multi-billion dollar company without basic HR policies for some common "hairy situations."

Pay seems competitive but other benefits such as parental leave, 401k, and insurance can lag behind industry standard.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees that are in the trenches and promote the right people. Don't be afraid to change and adapt to growth. As it says in the Regeneron 5: “That’s the way we’ve always done it” is the wrong answer.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    pay
    stock options
    Benefits package
    innovation and ideas are rewarded
upper management seeks to learn and improve working conditions (although they're already great)
    inclusive environment
colleagues push for improvement and discovery which fuels you to want to do the same
    work-life balance

    Cons

It isn't transparent what career advancement or development opportunities are available, or how to strive to achieve them.
There's a void between new employees and tenured employees with regards to HR information, new opportunities, improvements, etc. Just information the older employees would like to have and/or the newer employees would like to learn about.

    Advice to Management

Keep seeking to learn and improve the working environment. Knowing you care enough to do so makes me want to share my experiences and provide feedback for potential improvements.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Clean Working Environment
Honor System as opposed to being micromanaged

    Cons

As a contractor through an agency, you get NOTHING regular Regeneron employees get even though you do the same job, work the same amount of hours (with OT) etc. You automatically get paid less, are forced to wear an obnoxious orange colored badge created to draw attention to you, are not included in most company events, don't get paid for holidays, little things like not being allowed free ice cream, t shirts/souvenirs, denied entry to informative meetings, blocked from many aspects of the website etc. It's just plain ridiculous. I wouldn't advise anyone to work here as a contractor.

    Advice to Management

STOP HIRING CONTRACTORS! FILL YOUR POSITIONS WITH LONG TERM EMPLOYEES. The turn over is unnecessary.
