I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

First place I have ever worked that cares about the well being of their people. We get barbecues, breakfast every Friday, a decent holiday party every year and the week after Christmas off. If you have an idea to improve your group or department it's encouraged. Plenty of room to grow as you gain experience.

    Cons

Training and communication are still the biggest issues that need tackling on all levels.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Intelligent employees
    -Free gym
-Younger employees at the lowest level, easy to make friends

    Cons

-Horrible management - they will lie on your reviews and HR will not care despite you bringing them physical proof. Many managers are managers only because they have a PhD, not because they have proven any leadership skills.
-Some managers discriminate against their female scientists and HR will not do a thing
-Despite acting like they encourage internal transfers, it's not true; you won't even get a "thanks, but no thanks"
-ZERO career development opportunities - a minion is a minion, that is, until you leave. It's a decent place to start, take your experience, and RUN.
-The company works their employees into the ground and pay nothing until they can't take it anymore - then act like they just were't good enough to hack it when they all quit.

    Advice to Management

Provide actual career development opportunities and career paths. Hire managers who genuinely care about being leaders, not just someone because they have a PhD. Management training and sensitivity training should be required. Stop being so arrogant and believing that this is the best place to work, your turnover rate says otherwise.

I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Intelligent Employees
    - friendly colleagues
    - good place to start your career

    Cons

HR is HORRIBLE! Entire IT helpdesk level 1 and 2 is outsourced with C3i which is the worst to work for as you get absolutely no career development or advancement and the pay is well below average. i started as an Intern and then was brought with c3i (i only did it for the experience) . Do not make a career here, take what you learn and move to somewhere better fast. Was promised reviews and never received them. There was only one IT manager that actually recognized the outsourced employees for their hard work and truthfully he should be in charge or IT

    Advice to Management

This may or may not be on the horizon but the entire IT dept needs a makeover starting from the top down

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good ideas from many smart people. Benefits are good (same as other biotechs/pharmas I've worked).

    Cons

It feels like you can't do anything without getting management approval. RAs, admins, and other support staff are just support not truly valued members.

    Advice to Management

Let us do our work. We may not have MDs, JDs, or PhDs but we actually do know things. Plan a little better and give us some guidance but don't micromanage. You don't have to yell at us to get better work just treat us as peers and listen to what we are saying.

    Pros

They do give their permanent employees a lot; don't bother temping there & thinking you will get your foot in the door.

    Cons

The managers are totally incompetent. They seem to be reluctant to clean house if you have been there for a while. They just move them around laterally throughout different departments.

    Advice to Management

Stop using temporary employees unless you would actually like to hire them as permanent employees. These people see all Regeneron employees getting these wonderful benefits and are left out. Does this seem like a good idea? You have a lot of angry people. Watch the managers more carefully and don't be afraid to get rid of underperforming managers. Watch the technical training department very carefully.

    Pros

Decent pay for the area but below average for industry.

    Cons

    Long Hours
    Terrible Co-workers
    No room for growth
    High turnover rate

I was told by the Director of my division to stop being too ambitious.

    Advice to Management

Have incentives since you are dealing with people not items.

I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is growing and the science is good

    Cons

Terrible pay and hire overqualified applicants

    Advice to Management

Cliques are formed and employees treat each other mean. Learning should be removed from values because I learned nothing and taught everything I learned from larger pharma companies

    Pros

Management is so weak they have no clue about managing performance. You can coast, be the laziest under-performer and spend a lifetime here, and there are plenty who have.

    Cons

The Regeneron 5 is a meaningless joke. The historians responsible for the bogus baloney should just retire and count their millions. They even dug up and brought back the old fossil responsible for the BS. Bureacracy, politics, stifling ideas and creativity, afraid to change. Smug, arrogant and complacent. This is a company stuck in the past and headed for a very big fall.

    Advice to Management

The world has moved on. All decisions are taken by the personality cult that is the L & G show. Those who come to work for more than stock options will leave to work where their contributions are valued.

I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A good location for anyone living in Westchester

    Cons

As a former Regeneron employee, I had first-hand experience of working in an unhealthy atmosphere of high stress, condescension, and bullying. Many supervisors and high-level managers are self-enamored, believing they are legends...and they are, but only in their own minds. Regeneron is quick to tout that they believe in the balance of work and home life, but that is only lip service. When you sign on at Regeneron, you are signing away your home life, and are expected to be on call 24/7.
At Regeneron, bullying is rampant among supervisors and high-level employees. When a supervisor can be allowed to continually harass an employee verbally, or throw a tissue box at an employee with no consequence, that is a real problem. In order to create a safe, healthy, and encouraging working environment for employees, a company needs an efficient Human Resource department. The HR department at Regeneron is anything but efficient.
Potential candidates for employment at Regeneron should carefully consider all the reviews on this site before accepting a job offer.

    Advice to Management

Stop the business of hiring "friends of friends." Do a better job at vetting potential candidates for supervisory, management, and especially Human Resource positions. Listen carefully to the needs and wants of lower level employees, and pay careful attention to their health.
