    Pros

    People are recognized as the organizations greatest strength. Full benefits, the opportunity to advance and do meaningful work.

    Cons

    Being so large change happens slowly. Great ideas for improvement can take a long time to be implemented.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to work with priqde & hire the best.

    Good job security, nice pension.

    Cons

    Hard to grow from within, it is best to leave and then come back

    Advice to Management

    They need to embrace technology and take risk. They need to be open to promote from within and give people a chance at something new.

    I worked at Region of Durham (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Excellent Work-Life balance (so really hard to get job here).
    Excellent benifits.
    No pressure no tention jobs.
    If you live in Durham area, then one of the best place to work.

    Cons

    Senority wins, so education, certifications & expericen don't matter.
    Most of middle level management don't have exploure of ourside work environment, work style, technolgies, management styles etc.

    Advice to Management

    Promote or do internal hiring based on degrees, certifications and experience, not on seniority. You can save lots of tax payer money if you prmote suitable persons.

    -standard benefits and decent vacation time
    -opportunities for growth
    -free parking

    Cons

    -old school mentality, aversion to change
    -lots of people who call the shots need to retire as they've worked there for decades with no change
    -no flexible work hours and no working from home

    Advice to Management

    there are many unhappy people in the organization looking to leave. you need to change the work culture to embrace 21st century practices and hire new blood to replace those that have been there for decades

    I worked at Region of Durham as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Large department with roughly 11 consultants that deal with children with Behavioral issues. Great department culture, happy, friendly individuals who face a lot of challenges yet are willing to help out the new contract employee. Even the department director is a wonderful person.

    Cons

    Its extremely hard to get into, due to the fact that its such a wonderful place, now one ever wants to leave, and i do not blame them

    Advice to Management

    Be willing to hire!!!

    Great place to work I cant say anything else about them

    Cons

    Caught up in process. Very slow to change because of policy

    Advice to Management

    Get out and see what your employees are doing. It is very different from the desk .

    This is an equal opportunity employer with a great flexible work schedule. Work week is less than the rest

    Pros

    Management was very professional. Lots of training available. Good benefits and retirement plan. Reasonable work loads and expectations.

    Cons

    A little behind in pay scale. Negativity among some employees can be tiring.

    Do more to retain talent with either pay or advancement.
