I worked at Regional Municipality of Waterloo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work environment. Company treats employees well and seems to really care about the people working at the region.

    Cons

This is probably as much my fault as the Region's, but at times my work life balance tended to lean towards the work side of things.

    Advice to Management

The hiring processes could use a bit of a tweak. Interviews for the Region seem to feel awkward for the candidates, even when they do well.

    Pros

Good pay and great benefits included extended health, dental and pension plan. Dedicated co-workers. Centrally located office. Opportunity to engage in meaningful, innovative projects.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for upward and lateral mobility. Largely homogeneous workforce with limited diversity or understanding of diversity. Going through corporate-wide re-organization and still working out the kinks.

    Advice to Management

Foster leadership development and recruit from within to retain bright, dedicated younger employees.
