I have been working at Regions Financial (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Their Credit Box was narrow requiring Businesses to have good credit, cash flow etc. Deals could be done if the client and banker work together to strengthen their credit profile.

    Cons

Management seemed to be in constant change.

    Advice to Management

Ask your better employees what they need to be more successful.

I worked at Regions Financial full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Regions offers their employees a good benefits package and decent salary. Advancement opportunity is also decent.

    Cons

Regions seems to have abandoned their community bank model in smaller markets as peoples left they were not replaced.

    Advice to Management

Review the community bank model which was much of what the bank was made of over the years and stick with hat model as it is solid.

I worked at Regions Financial (More than a year)

    Pros

Low stress environment relative to other banks I've experienced.

    Cons

Management structure is far and wide making critical decisions difficult. Too many managers and too few workers are actually responsible for delivering results for clients. Large volume of bad mortgage loans has virtually paralyzed the bank's ability to compete effectively across areas of lending that are entirely unrelated to the historically bad mortgage loans.

    Advice to Management

A flatter and more transparent operating structure utilizing far fewer managers to producing bankers. Nepotism is run amuck and there is little rationale to support the hiring and retention of too many "old school" bankers and mangers that refuse to conform to this modern era of banking where accountability and responsibility for performance is crucial to a banks very survival.

I have been working at Regions Financial (More than a year)

    Pros

    great benefits, lots of branches

    Cons

as far as branch managers are concern they do not empower the managers to be able to do their job effectively but they will give them 100% accountability to achieve their goals. the salary ranch for Personal bankers are below average and they do not negotiate vacation time for positions below Branch Manager grade.

    Advice to Management

review pay scale for talent and negotiate vacation time for BTL's if you want to be able to recruit good talent.

I have been working at Regions Financial full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great environment. Rated #1 by employees and customers in American Banker Magazine as great place to work and for customer service. Service oriented, family friendly, work/life balance encouraged, opportunity for promotion, company with strength & stability, profitable.

    Cons

Low ball salary. Inconsistent in equal pay for experience / non-experience hires.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring or promoting your buddies. As in any civilian employed company, it's still who you know and have dinner and drinks with. The person who kisses and sucks up gets the spoils and it is not fair to the person who truly has what it takes to do the job.

    Pros

Ability to assist customers reach their financial goals while increasing their financial literacy. Excellent training opportunities with support from the training department afterwards.

    Cons

There is no loyalty within the company. The majority of the leadership is only interested in bettering themselves, not promoting others as they would have you to believe.

    Advice to Management

Follow the book to the T and watch your back. Those in upper management who may have you believe they care and are open for discussion, are not.
