I have been working at Regions Hospital full-time

    Pros

    Very interesting work

    Working directly with patients

Working together with providers to serve all patients

    Cons

Depending on your department ( if your department makes money for the organization directly or not), you will get a budget that is sufficient. Our department does not make money for the organization, even though we are making it possible to provide best care, best experience. This budgetary shortfall results in broken equipment not being replaced, short staffing, and no holiday pay for working Christmas or New Year's or differentials for working nights and weekends. We also do not have 24-7 coverage, which is needed for certain patient demographics. I understand we have a budget we need to meet, but I feel like our job is very important, regardless of the money we are bringing in to the organization. Not all success is based on finances, and all departments should have sufficient funding to provide things like 24-7 coverage to meet patient needs, shift differentials and holiday pay to all those working in direct patient care.

    Advice to Management

Please see the value in all departments, not just based on the money they bring in. Although we are not RNs or MDs, we provide a service which is essential to patient care.

I have been working at Regions Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary is higher than most other hospitals in the metro. Plenty of hours are available, offer lots of OT.

    Cons

I don't feel supported by senior leadership
I wish they took safety and security concerns more seriously. I often don't feel safe at work
While they can't control this, the patient population is difficult, demanding, and violent
