Reviews about "salons"

Pros
Walk in traffic, cheap tools
Cons
This company does not care about its people. The field staff is overly paid and doesn't support their salons. Some of them work at private salons in Regis dime. While the salons are constantly short staffed. Stylist and managers are over worked and under paid. Good peoples are driven off so it's a constant revolving door. Turn over is the highest in the industry for a reason.

Education and guarantee, advancement opportunities and flexibility
Cons
Too much turnover due to negative managers in the salons

Pros
Great Place to work. Being inside Wal-mart brings a lot of traffic into the salon. Recommend to new stylist
Cons
The pay is not very competitive. Commission based with minimun wage guaranteed. The commission rate is not very good compared to other salons

Pros
They offer steady walkin clients. Perfect place to start in either straight out of school or new city. Easy to move up into management if that's what you want. Nice bonuses for managers and decent not great pay. They offer lots of great training for all stylists if you take advantage and have a manager that wants all stylists to succeed.
Cons
Stylist level pay is horrible to begin with. You have to be there several years or come in fill of experience to get decent commission. Salon managers don't really have any authority in their salons so I don't really know why they have them in there. They like to have a salon fill of stylists even if none of them are on commission because they think they are missing money by not having enough people working...... You need to take care of the stylists you have first!

Pros
Can't think of any pros. Really disappointed that I took this step in my career. Can't wait to get out. Waste of time.
Cons
No idea what premium means. Stylists are usually paid 40-45% commission and are expected to answer the phones and ring out clients on their own. DL's and RDL's get a huge sign on bonus and they really aren't any support to the salons. Instead of giving them sign ons maybe invest in the run down conditions of the salons and in payroll to support receptionists.

Pros
room for growth.. don't have to "get" your own customers.. all of your supplies are supplied.
Cons
salon services/ products only caters to European hair textures. micro management in salons. since under new ownership (Regis) salons have been undergoing SEVERAL changes.

Pros
Great manager, great location. Flexi able hours. Lots of clients
Cons
DL. never has anything positive to say. The pay rate is the lowest of all salons. A single person can not pay bills on the pay we receive. Raise pay ,gets you better stylist which equals more guest. Win for all..

Pros
I really love working for regis. I have been an employee for 6 and a half years. great career progression, you can go into management, education and also the creative team. Good training courses and a lot on offer. Also train managers in HR these days. Most salons tend to be in good busy locations do lots of walk in guests.
Cons
Unrealistic targets for comission. Goal post gets changed for monthly bonus. wage for managers are very low compared to othe companies. Use to get a lot of incentives where you could win holidays and gadgets, don't do this now due to cit backs. staffing tends to be tight in each salon so can be a nightmare when organising holidays. have to rely on tips and comission to boost your wage.

Pros
A few very talented and passionate stylists. The majority end up leaving once they realize that Regis' premium salon will never be premium. Ever had your stylist stop to answer a phone when they're working on your head because they cut all the receptionists hours? Maybe you should spend those huge sign on bonuses for upper management on the crummy salons or receptions support.
Cons
Lies lies and more lies. Regional directors are a joke. Upper management is even worse. Treats stylists with no respect. Will cut your feet out from under you for personal gain.

Pros
Regis Corporate salons are a great place to get a start and develop your skills
Cons
I've been working here most of my career. It's a money hungry corporation. They careless about stylist. All they care about is numbers and how much retail you sell. The only reason I work there because I have bills and rent to pay. I really love doing hair and been doing it for four years now. I know I could work at another salon but it's hard building your clientele. And just getting commission from other salon is not going to pay the rent. It's nice to have the walk-ins .
