I worked at RehabCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, started at $35/hour for the Boston area

    Cons

With rehab in general, there are no guarantees for you to get hours, so some weeks I'd work 25 hours, others I'd work 50. The worst part specifically to RehabCare was the productivity expectation of 88% for OTRs and 90% for COTAs - this caused pressure to clock out between sessions to keep productivity up.

    Advice to Management

    88-90% productivity rate is unrealistic

I worked at RehabCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    excellent co-workers, nice facility, benefits

    Cons

Never get a raise with no justification, Unpredictable work days , management focused only on productivity, lack of team approach and training specific to departments, not family oriented, constantly short-staffed, and unable to use PTO without covering for self.

    Advice to Management

Should work harder to implement changes with upper corporate management to discontinue policies which engender working off- the- clock to meet unrealistic expectations. Should try to look beyond the short term productivity to see long-term benefits of an employee and family friendly work place.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-worker. I believe because we all feel like we are trapped on the same boat, adversity makes us closer. Says I need a minimum of 20 words but I literally have no more "pros".

    Cons

Middle management (especially at regional level) are bullies, far to prevalent, and way too focused on numbers (productivity, point of service, and percentages code usage) that have a severely adverse effect on patient care and employee moral. If you are in Houston area SNF/ALF you know who I am talking about. To make matters worse they do pander to suck ups who are generally the worst at therapy. Finally hypocrisy is rampant making employees attest that they do not partake in certain behaviors, but then making it impossible not to (and providing means for them to do so)

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying your PDs/CCs with your "trends". Stop pandering to your chosen few. Regionals try working a week at one of your facilities under the framework you yourself set up.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I don't have an answer. There aren't many pros. Health insurance isn't very good and 401 isn't very good at all.
Training needs to be done for the CNAs to get the patients out of bed more.

    Cons

Hardly any yearly raises and very small when you are given a raise. They need to emphasize getting the patients out of bed more and train the CNAs to do that. Patients need to be kept cleaner.

    Advice to Management

    It's a shame it's all about productivity.

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have great co-workers. Always high caseload.

    Cons

Don't feel valued as an employee. Management is only concerned about making money. There was no training, support, or mentorship as a new employee/new grad. No communication with management. Pressure to meet minutes and see patients even when it isn't right. Hard to get time off. Forced to work holidays to meet patient RUG levels.

    Advice to Management

Create an on-boarding program, or even a simple checklist to ensure new employees are trained properly and know basic information (e.g. PTO info, how to access CEUs).

I have been working at RehabCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

direct manager was flexible, coworkers were pleasant and helpful

    Cons

    1. regional managers micromanage direct managers and never ask for input from direct managers. 2. Managers make taking PTO very hard even if you have PTO hours. 3. Management makes drastic changes with no notice. 4. Management doesn't value employees, only management 5. direct manager have no say in hiring new employees. company hires more staff then needed which leads to hours being cut and employees being sent to other facilities. 6. No raises offered with no explanation. how can we be in a "pay freeze" if managers are getting bonuses and raises? 7. room for advancement is minimal to none unless you know who to suck up to. I have mentioned to management that I would be interested in learning management and the company even advertises a management track however no one seems to know how to start this track.

    Advice to Management

allow direct managers to have more say so with their staff. treat employee with some level of respect and consideration. Company prides itself on being flexible with time however the complete opposite is true.
