I worked at Reinsurance Group of America full-time

    Pros

Work-life balance; great total compensation; solid organization...

    Cons

Old way of running an organization: hierarchal mentality. Culture and retention should be a focus, with leadership held accountable for success in this area.

    Advice to Management

Learn that your employees are the most valued asset. More consistency with all levels of leaders - should be trained to support a mission of employee empowerment, retention and engagement. HR lacks in many important ways...

I have been working at Reinsurance Group of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The flexible work environment is definitely attractive as is the salary and work / life balance. Also, the new building is a very attractive selling point to potential new hires.

    Cons

The culture has changed over the years to more of a big company bureaucracy where nothing seems to get done with a consensus.

    Advice to Management

Take a real look at where you are going and decide whether or not you really want to go there.

I worked at Reinsurance Group of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I saw this company grow from being a regional player, to national and then global leader in Life Reinsurance! The story is remarkable including losing parent company, being sold and growing up to join the prestigious S&P 500 Club! Overall a good place to work for.

    Cons

As it happens with growing pains, it became a corporate conglomerate and lost sight of the people who put heart and soul for its growth.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing the right things which keep the employees excited and motivated. Sometimes metrics and surveys don't capture the true sentiments on ground!

I have been working at Reinsurance Group of America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great training program. You start off training with a member of the company's training team. Once you have accomplished this you are assigned a trainer who works in your division. This person will train you on the day to day aspects of the position.

    Cons

The amount of work can be challenging. The change into a new imaging system has created a backlog of work that has lead to required overtime.

    Advice to Management

Consider bringing on more full time employees to help ease the work load on current employees. This will help to lower your employee turnover.
