    Advice to Management

It doesnt matter how many times you restructure, all upper managementneeds to be cut and save money of the overpaid useless VP's.

    Pros

-The company has great ideas and philosophies, truly, the stability of any company is its management and supervisors.
    -Large and growing profolio

    Cons

company grew too big too fast and need a closer look at all areas of roles to services.
Not competitive - salaries are not competitive to the industry. Much lower in most cases and most positions.
    Need better career growth opportunities.
The quality of the physical product (apartment interiors and finishes) are not up to par with the competition but plans to renovate and upgrade are at minimal.

    Advice to Management

Research - competitive sets should be continuously researched and should adjust the quality of the products to match what the market really wants.

Salaries should be competitive to what is available in the market.

I worked at Related Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation was very competitive, good benefits and definitely one of the most prestigious luxury rental companies in NY.

    Cons

Management was unapproachable and distant. Technology, software and other tools were in disarray and in many situations employees were left to fend for themselves without much support.

    Advice to Management

Try to change the sterile corporate culture that permeates the company.

    Pros

    - Work like balance seems to be fair in comparison to other real estate firms.
    - Good Company name to put your on your resume when looking for other alternatives.

    Cons

    - The compensation at the accountant/senior accountant level can be lower than the fair market price offered by the competitors.
The senior management creates pretty bad vibe and its difficult to deal with.
    - The process of performamce reviews has not always been fair but skewed based on favoritism and politics.
-You may find yourself being micro-managed depending on who is your supervisor.

    Advice to Management

Need to replace the entire old RMC management crew with new fresh ideas.

    Pros

Competitive pay, work life balance is pretty fair, and Related also has great training modules to learn from and well as various other resources.

    Cons

Hard to deal with upper management. Sometimes they can be clueless on ongoing work related issues and recognizing the root of problems.

"Good Product, some Good People but Lots of Politics"

    Star Star Star Star Star

    • Senior Management
Former Employee - District Manager in New York, NY
Former Employee - District Manager in New York, NY

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

-Good property management experience with 1st-Class properties.
-Dedicated and competent site staff at all properties for the most part.
-Company has a good name and image in the real estate business in general.
    -Benefits OK.
-Many work processes are web-based or computerized and well-integrated into a common platform.
-Top executives and company ownership are no-nonsense people to deal with. Great opportunity for exposure to this level of accountability.

    Cons

-Increasingly unrealistic expectations of both management personnel and site staff.
-Too much focus on policy and procedure vs. actually getting the job done.
-Most of if not all of the upper management have no hands-on PM experience, and this detracts from their ability to understand employee roles, workdays and how to best supervise the site personnel as well as do things efficiently, cost-effectively or in a time-efficient manner.
-Protectionism in the upper ranks makes everyone else dispensable.

    Advice to Management

-Lots of dead wood that needs to go. Time in the company doesn't equate to management effectiveness.

-No work/life quality, too much extra administrative work and procedural nonsense is foisted on the lower and middle ranks. Eliminate the extra paperwork and focus on getting the job done.

-Back of house operations at many properties appear to be OK at first but closer inspection will reveal staggering deficiencies in physical plant upkeep, site staff supervision, policy adherence and enforcement as well as general building maintenance. Consistent and regular site visits and inspections will prevent this.

-Leasing operations are not on pace with the market nor aggressive enough to capture targeted clients at many properties, resulting in significant unrecoverable vacancy losses. At the end of the day, people care about what they're paying out in rent, not the move-in gifts and promotions.

-Property management is a people business, enough said. When you lose focus on or forget about the people element of it, you've become just another landlord in NYC.
