I have been working at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Culture is changing quickly for the better. Out with the old and in with the new it seems, but maintaining expertise in much needed areas. The Co workers were never an issue as you can read in previous reviews however mgmt was. Now that a lot of people have moved on the new mgmt seems to understand what kind of boat were all in. It's not the best place to work, but it's come a long way from when I started here. It's a good place to build a resume in the investment mgmt industry.

    Cons

Pay is on the lowest end of the industry. I believe McDonald's may soon pay more.

    Advice to Management

Work with the other departments and cover for your people. Love not hate will facilitate good work.

I worked at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of flexibility for management to have good work/life balance. Work from home and flex hours are options for certain positions.

A lot of opportunity to move within the company.

There is a sense of family atmosphere, but it quickly started changing when the company starting growing exponentially 5 years ago.

Executives and upper management kept their doors shut and did not want to deal with the lower level employees.

    Cons

    Low pay
    No female executives
    Upper management in a bubble
Very little interaction outside of work (pro or con).
Not much social responsibility and no volunteer opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Don't shut your door. Talk to your employees and actually listen to them. Invest in better technology. Need a major restructuring and cultural shift.

    Pros

Great company to get experience, then move on to another company.

    Cons

Benefits very expensive, raises were no existent, room for advancement for certain people.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees that you manage and not display favoritism.

I have been working at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When people were there who actually gave a crap, it was tolerable.. But all those people are gone. Friday morning coffee/tea/fruit/granola, tons of OT available.

    Cons

Hardworking people get taken advantage of, zero advancement unless you come in with prior supervisory experience, zero interdepartmental cooperation. Everyone's out for themselves, so watch your back.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so petty!! Don't talk about other departments and project your personal bias onto your subordinates. When you pit departments against each other, you create an awful environment for your employees because nobody wants to help ANYONE else. Also, when you hire young, ambitious people straight out of college - they're not just gonna sit back and coast with the same job for six years doing mediocre work. They want to learn more, do more, and be appreciated. And unless you can give them a career path, they're gone.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth

    Advice to Management

    Be more personal.

I have been working at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Promotions are easy to get and frequent if the right people like you. Being owned by FIS gives your resume some credibility and working for a Fortune 500 company is always impressive. Stock purchase plan is great.

    Cons

Depressing and underpaid office culture, even with multiple promotions. Employees are disgruntled and unhelpful. Operations doesn't understand that they work for the clients, not the other way around. Changes with the new company have brought about growing pains; not sure if they will go away or get worse.

    Advice to Management

Employees crave more work/life balance. Would be nice if the company interacted with the community around it through volunteer activities. Offer training for work development. Organize outside activities.

I worked at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All the employees are miserable, so at least there were people to commiserate with

    Cons

I never felt it was a real business to begin with. Loose rules/policies. A patchwork of departments & resources that didn't have the leadership to work as a team. It struck me as a "pump & dump" scheme - and it pretty much was.

    Advice to Management

I think they're as confused as the rest of us, but with much more in-fighting & vitriol. The underlings like me grabbed popcorn & enjoyed the show. So thanks for that? (I guess)

    Pros

You get a paycheck roughly every two weeks.

    Cons

    Too many to mention...
Management has ZERO management or people skills.
"GRUT" work -- all day, every day
You will be looked at like you're crazy if you actually take your lunch break

    Advice to Management

    Take some actual management courses

I have been working at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're motivated to succeed, this is one of the best companies I have ever worked for with regard to growth opportunity. It's a small enough firm that you don't disappear, but has a larger company feel. Senior management has made great strides in improving the profitability of the company and is beginning to pass that on to the employees. With regard to the working environment, the location is great, parking is free, and the building has a lot of amenities.

    Cons

There is still a bit of a disconnect between Executive Management and the associates, but, in all fairness, it is improving.

    Advice to Management

The improvements in morale and employee attitude are beginning to show. Please don't lose the positive momentum you've achieved!

I worked at Reliance Trust Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    a steady paycheck
decent building with dry cleaner and food services avaiable

    Cons

    petty management
    expensive medical benefits
extensive manual processing of financial transactions

    Advice to Management

Get a clue, by a vowel, or something! Managers are blatantly disrespectful of each other and other employees. There should be no place in a legitimate business for this type of behavior.
