I have been working at Reliant Energy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great structure and foundation. Good benefits. Many opportunities.

    Cons

Nepotism is not supposed to exist, but it really does. When some one on an upper level does not like you, your hard work is enough to keep you job.

    Advice to Management

Dissect the management pyramid. Employees want leaders that they can trust and be guided by, not managers that micromanage you and not explain or guide you to the goal and do not appreciate you when you meet or many times exceed that goal.

I have been working at Reliant Energy full-time

    Pros

Company is a well oiled machine. Incredibly strong talent within the organization.

    Cons

A well oiled machined isn't always a good thing, especially when you're trying to be innovative and change the competitive landscape.

    Advice to Management

Truly listen to your employees - your experts in a given area (I.e. Marketing/digital). Landscape is changing and practices that worked a decade ago may no longer apply.

I have been working at Reliant Energy full-time

    Pros

The people I work with have great personalities and the company provides outings and events for the employees.

    Cons

Management has to learn to lead by example. Also, it would be nice to feel support by management, if we are a "team" then management needs to learn to treat their employees with respect just like they require their employees to treat the customers.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example or you will continue to lose good employees that bring value to the company.

I have been working at Reliant Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Be able to make a lot of money. Gives you customer service experience. Be able to meet new people everyday. Opportunity to move up.

    Cons

There really isn't any bad things about. I mean if you're lazy, this isn't the job for you. You gotta be able to take rejection. The better the salesmanship, the better you're going to be in this business.
