    Pros

Gives you room for time management, a big company for you to take time learning new things. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Too many reports to prepare for the sake of writing reports, working level often affected by company politics, head quarter in Tokyo not in sync with global business climate, salary not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Less focus on asking employees to make fancy reports, most of the numbers are just to make each office look good anyways and not reflective to actual situation.

I have been working at Renesas Electronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Leave office on the dot. There are many periods where you get to do absolutely nothing. Just have to maintain that all processes are running fine that's all you need to do. Very good retrenchment package (ceasing operations real soon). Many long servicing employers are enjoying super high remuneration above the current market rate.

    Cons

Many old and closed minded employees who are reluctant to change. Fault finding game will start when one get into accident or problem, thus everyone is staying low profile and hope that the days go by peacefully. Good for fresh graduates entry (low remuneration) as the job demand is relatively easy but staying too long in your comfort zone will backfire on your long term career.

Many long servicing employers are going to suffer severe pay cut when they move to the new jobs.

    Advice to Management

Good that the company is ceasing operations real soon.

I worked at Renesas Electronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They have brought in new Sr. Management that are focused on getting the company profitable. At all costs. 18,000 people reduction in Japan. Closing 6 factories and discontinuing the sale of non-profitable products. Sr. Management is now focusing on basic business practices to improve employee performance.

    Cons

Sr. management will not leave some of the traditional Japanese ways. All employees paid at the same pay (roughly - minor deviation). Also, performance reviews are decided by a committee (in an effort to equalize, but instead you get people weighing in who have no clue about other employees). Early Retirement allows the company to reduce headcount, but it is usually the best people that go.

    Advice to Management

    - Reduce your employment by removing the lowest performers.
    - Stop micro-managing purchases under 10,000 yen
    - Hire exceptional people to come in and lead across the company, not just at the top!

I have been working at Renesas Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's quite interesting that engineers can suggest business/sales strategy based on strong skills of hardware and software with MCU, AP(analog and power), and SoC.

    Cons

Too many managers, with no leaderships. It already passed few years from when the company was merged Hitachi, Mitsubishi, and NEC electronics, but, its business structure is not re-constructed yet.

    Advice to Management

State your business strategy clearly, so that everyone can see better future of the company.

I worked at Renesas Electronics full-time

    Pros

    - Strong product portfolio
    - A large number of very talented engineers who have a great deal of know-how to pass down to junior employees
    - Nice company culture, generally good atmosphere

    Cons

    - Too much bureaucracy, the lack of strong leadership, consensus-based decision-making, and risk-averse management styles hold the company back from achieving its full potential
    - Inability to make the really tough decisions in recent years continues to derail efforts to return to profitability

    Advice to Management

To survive in a global economy Renesas needs to become much more aggressive and agile.
