    Pros

PTO, Work Environment, Mission of the Agency

    Cons

Paperwork and Government Regulations, everything else is pretty good.

    Pros

Flexible Schedule, holidays off, rewarding if you enjoy helping other people.

    Cons

Everything always seems to be changing, and supervisors don't really have any authority to make decisions. There are so many caring people working here, but they are unable to change the ways of senior management.

I worked at Renewal Unlimited (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Supporting families and children is rewarding.

    Cons

Disfunctional leadership. Doesn't follow performance standards, OHSA, DPI. Positions open extended periods leaving others to do tasks with no additional compensation. Unhealthy work environment.

    Advice to Management

New leadership needed as programming at risk. Board of Director term limits.

I worked at Renewal Unlimited part-time

    Pros

Working with the kids and watching them learn . Hoping that what your teaching them will stick throughout their lives.

    Cons

No management at all . People are free to do what they want without caring about the effects it has on other people. No accountability. Terrible pay.

    Advice to Management

Get subs for backup so you don't have to close school or do self transport if anybody doesn't come in. Train your teachers in management and follow through with disciplinary action. Pay better.

    Pros

You help people and can make a big difference in the lives of the people you serve.

    Cons

Everything else! Low pay, no raises, little support, terrible communication, tons of paperwork (often doubling up the paperwork), extremely high staff turnover, unrealistic expectations, toxic unhealthy work environment, very little concern for field staff (lots of pretense but absolutely no follow through on anything)

    Advice to Management

You need to remember your mission and why you exist. It has become more about power/control and less about people/families. Fix your priorities pronto.

I worked at Renewal Unlimited full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great training opportunities and program. The schedule is very flexible and every day you know you are making a difference. The health benefits are awesome!! Great place to build experience.

    Cons

No raises, ever! Your starting pay is what you will make for the next three years. Management is hired from the outside instead of promoting within.

I worked at Renewal Unlimited full-time

    Pros

I gave this company two stars because there are some really good people there helping the community and making a difference in people's lives. Most of them are nowhere near the top of this non-profit pyramid. Great benefits, good cause.

    Cons

RU is all about the paperwork, and much less about providing good services. Individuals who get their paperwork done perfectly are praised because it makes life easier for Admin...no matter how much slacking off they do with the rest of their time. Certain higher-ups are petty and gossip about employees, giving the whole place an unfriendly feel. Pay was not great, and the organization was poorly run.

I worked at Renewal Unlimited full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful day to day work, plenty of professional development, semi-flexible schedule, good availability of supplies, good benefits, good experience for first job

    Cons

No performance based raises - basically encouraging poor employees to do just enough to not get fired because working harder wouldn't get you anything, poor leadership, unprofessional administration, main concern was for numbers - not safety or best for families.

    Advice to Management

Consider performance based raises, delegate appropriate tasks

I worked at Renewal Unlimited full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees are paid twice a month.

    Cons

The work environment is toxic and it's caused by the fact that the executive director is micro managing, has extreme power/control issues and is threatened by anyone who she perceives is smarter than her. As a smart employee, your ideas will become threats to her and she will look for any reason to relieve you of your duties without any warning. The ironic part is that the very few people she defends in the organization are the ones who say the worst things about her....these are her long-term employees.

    Advice to Management

A new executive director is desperately needed or the organization will crumble.
