I have been working at Rent-A-Center (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The hours ARE there. You can work close with customers.. And you do have the opportunity to move up in the company.

    Cons

The hours can become a bit much! Especially if you have children and/or a husband/wife. Working 11 hr days CAN take a toll on some!

    Pros

Creating a comfortable and professional environment for the customer.
Giving the luxury to purchase furniture with small monthly down payments.
Helping build credit by reporting to all 3 Credit Bureaus.
Giving the opportunity to give furniture for those who are in need.

    Cons

Verification procedures are not as strong as they should be.
    Promotion opportunities aren't frequent.
    No overtime allowed.

    Advice to Management

    Better advertising is necessary.

I have been working at Rent-A-Center (More than a year)

    Pros

    Starting pay isn't bad.
You get overtime hours so that fluffs up your check a decent amount.

    Cons

    Heavy lifting.
Apparently new hires will not receive overtime hours.
District manager breathing down your neck over hitting sales and credit numbers all the time.
A lot of time spent at work. Your social life takes a hit from that.

    Dedicated training department.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason RAC is #1.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

decent paycheck , Paid Vacation , Holidays Off.

    Cons

I worked with Rent-A-Center for about a year and grew the business over 200 BORS and was always told you get rewarded for hard work and in the end it never happened. so if you're new to RAC don't expect to get promoted in less than a year even if your hitting your goals and exceeding expectations most managers will just train you enough to have you do the work for them while they sit back relax and get all the bonuses , credit , and paid vacation .

    Advice to Management

don't take your staff for granted and also you know you hold the power of promoting your staff to the next level so don't hold someone thats talented back just to make your life easier .. in the end you'll suffer because they will lose motivation and eventually leave.

    Pros

The best thing about working at rent a center is that the starting pay is good for a retail job and the benefits are good

    Cons

You have no life when you work at rent a center. You have to be there early in the morning and leave late at night because the overtime is mandatory. There is no training when you start, they just expect you to know how to handle accounts.

    Advice to Management

Please stop trying to promote everyone just because they are able to get people to pay because in reality half the managers don't know what they're doing and possess no supervisory skills.
